So a recent 1st place claim, which I have determined to be using auto-clicker, has made me consider the need for a new rule. To help combat the use of auto-clickers I think a microphone should be used so clicks are audible. I don't really want it to have to come to this, but it's really the best way i could think of to combat this.
This is the video that makes me want it. The clicks are consistent through the entire video, with no mistakes or fatigue. Also the fact that this guy has never submitted to any cookie clicker category and is claiming first place right away.
Anyway. I'd like to hear some arguments for and against the rule change. Or other ways I can better combat auto-clickers. I'm basically doing all the verifications now.
If a new runner immediately gets the record on his first try AND has clicks that are 100% consistent throughout, then you really should have some obvious way to tell that someone's using an auto-clicker.
Using a mic sounds like a great idea.
for a game called "Hungry Pumkin" we decided that even a microphone is not good enough. We require to record a click counter that we provide in the resources... at least for top places on the leaderboard
Just got another obvious auto-clicker. Claims to beat previous record by 10 minutes lol
I'm not a mod, but I'm sure they'll back me up when I say mouse keys on the keyboard is not allowed. Turbo controllers are not allowed for other speed runs. Both turbo controllers and keys on the keyboard both count as a device/software that allows the runner to get an advantage that is unattainable in other ways aside from other devices/softwares that do the same thing. The mouse is acceptable because it is the hardware that the game was designed around. Anything that is not a mouse (unless I am forgetting something) is not allowed. Hopefully I'm not stepping out of place saying this even though I'm not a mod.
I tried the click counter, I don't like the program itself because OBS Studio has difficulties recording it. Still I think it is a good idea.
i mean the problem was from a year ago lol, i think the problem is pretty much solved right now
SRC has come up with an IRL section. All IRL cooking backing speedruns will commence there moving forward. Please follow the boards if you're interested in IRL cookie backing speedruns.
