I've added a clarification to the rules for people who don't want to go back to the main menu every time the get game over, and instead want to use "restart".
"If you wish to using the RESTART option after GAME OVER, please add 2 seconds to your final time."
Let me know if you have any suggestions for new categories here!
Hi!
I'm not super familiar with speed running, or speedrun.com, but I was wondering something:
I released a new NES game last year, "From Below". It's similar to Tetris.

I have a few players who compete for highscores, and I thought it would be good to start officially tracking the current world records.
Is speedrun.com a good fit for this kind of thing, or is this strictly limited to time based challenges?
Unlike NES Tetris highscores, From Below isn't really a race to see how fast you can max out the score. People have not maxed out the score yet.
I am working on a little game for #1GAM (http://www.onegameamonth.com/) and feeling like it could make a decent speed-run game.
I don't know much about the community, so I was wondering if you know of any articles or first hand knowledge, of what kinds of features make a game "speed run friendly".
Obviously it needs to be a great game, but I am thinking more stuff like:
¤ Built in timer ¤ Ability to reset levels instantly ¤ Run in windowed mode ¤ Etc
I figure there are probably some simple mistakes that I could avoid if I keep them in mind early.
Here is a little video after 1 week into development:
