Hey everyone! After a good week of redoing things, the categories have been overhauled with a license-based structure, new names and clearer rules. You can see the exact changes by comparing the BP and BPR pages, and recommendations on further changes are always welcome.

With that done and new players starting to speedrun, now's a great time to create some new categories! A BSI "All Collectibles" category has already been added and I'll be doing a run soon; ILs have also been split into traffic/no traffic. We'd like to hear more of your suggestions - what's a category/ILs you think would be a great fit?

Burnout Paradise Remastered is the same as Burnout Paradise V1.9, so yes. Earlier versions don't have the island, and going back even further there were changes to the airfield, but beyond that it's the same in all versions.

Nice run Wagner! Gonna have to try this category soon, get some competition going :P

Also, if possible, I'd appreciate if you uploaded this non-windowboxed version of your run and submitted it instead: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UUKB28sLGA-3ORNP6oR-sTB_GrYp1aAH/view?usp=sharing No offence intended of course, windowboxing is just a pet peeve of mine.

Yes, every car has a speed cap. To use your example, the Cavalry is artificially limited to 120 MPH. By that time, however, it's running at ~4450 RPM in 5th gear - banging on the door of its 4500 RPM limit. It'll gain speed by going downhill for some time after hitting the max RPM, but at 150 MPH, you'll run into a wall - and it'll be difficult to get past. That's what I called a cap, for lack of a better word. Different cars run at different RPMs and have different RPM limits, so it's hard to say when everything would hit the cap, but they do all have one somewhere.

As for the Cavalry Burning Route, it's a weird one. The Oval Champ 69 ended up being quicker for me despite the slower acceleration. Probably because it drifts straighter. I'd suggest improving your route (mine or Burnout_Psycho's would work well) and avoiding jumps as they slow you down.

Also, sorry about the late response, I don't check SR often. Discord's a good place to catch me if you wanna talk.

For anyone else reading this, the post he's referring to is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Burnout/comments/8g6mt9/what_is_the_fastest_car_in_burnout_paradise/dy9pmbk/

Differences between finishes have not been fully explored, at least not in any accurate way. The only known major differences are with the Hippy Van and Tempesta Dream, which are both faster than the normal and Burning Route variants of their respective cars.

Quick post to touch on some little things that may not have been clear before: -The only Burning Routes that benefit from 1.9 are the Cavalry's and SI-7's. The rest are comparable to 1.6-1.8. -Unless you're using the Street Rod or Walmart WTR, Road Rules in 1.9 are comparable to 1.6-1.8. -For vehicles in 1.0-1.5, the lower the stats, the faster than their updated counterparts they'll be. Vehicles after the Takedown Dirt Racer (except the Racing WTR/PCPD Special) are comparable to 1.6-1.9.

That should be all for ILs. I've thought about the main categories and don't think it's a good idea to add version subcategories to them. TARS mentioned adding it as a variable instead; that seems to be the best option.

I think that'd be overkill, the leaderboards don't have much activity as it is.

There's been a lot of talk in the Discord lately about 1.0 being cheating, so here's an "official" post asking for input on a new system that would satisfy everyone equally. I haven't thought about the main categories yet, so we'll stick to ILs for now.

First thing we need to do is actually understand what's wrong. The game has three major versions: 1.0 - Initial release 1.6 - ==The Ultimate Box. Nerfed vehicles to be more "noob-friendly". Made events easier. The PC game is this version. 1.9 - Current version. Allows online play, which enables lots of glitches. Added the Street Rod (best car for road rules by far). Increased the Cavalry's and SI-7's acceleration significantly.

With this in mind, we'll take the Cavalry Burning Route as an example. Say there are 3 runs - a 48s, 38s, and 45s. They were all near-perfect runs taking the same route, on the same platform, so how are they so different? Easy: the car is different, because of the game version.

In this situation, there are three options: make three cross-platform categories for each version and remove the PC/console categories, ban 1.0 and 1.6 from consoles and keep PC separate, or leave it and let people bicker in their disappointment.

Personally, I'd lean towards the first option. It would look something like this on each IL: 1.0-1.5 1.6-1.8 (PC) 1.9 Bikes

If possible, 1.9 would be added to all road rules but only the Cavalry and SI-7 Burning Routes. Not sure if speedrun.com allows for that kind of thing though.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Comments?

Dunno about 8p, but I see four guys right here if you're up for it.

Just curious, since time road rules were added, why not timed challenges? Or does the site not support more than one player name per submission? (Challs are cooperative, 2-8 players)
