I just started running Pneuma : Breath of Life a week ago and my WR submitted 3 days ago is still awaiting validation. There wouldn't be any problem if it wasn't a week old speedrun.com sommunity. I know some people are trying to join this community but their time is still awaiting validation. Even my WR got bested this morning by 00Svo, but if you're not following his streams, you can't have any clue about that.

I tried contacting the mod (Penns87) and I'm waiting for his response, but I'd like to know if I still don't have any sign of life from him, let's say in 1 week, is there anything I can do ?

Penns87 are you still alive ? I have submitted a run a few days ago and it still awaits for validation. Also I've seen some other runs of Pneuma that popped (thinking of 00Svo who got a 22:02 WR run).

So I watched Penns87's PB and here's the breakdown :

Prologue > Chap. 1 : 35s (-5) Chap. 1 > Chap. 2 : 32s (-2) Chap. 2 > Chap. 3 : 34s (-3) Chap. 3 > Chap. 4 : 17s (-3) Chap. 4 > Chap. 5 : 47s (-5) Chap. 5 > Chap. 6 : 55s (-6) Chap. 6 > Epilogue : 31s (-3)

All the loadings are faster for Penns87, even though we're both on Xbox One...

If you're talking about what I think for the torch skip, it's Chapter 2.

For some reasons, the total time I spend in loadings appears to be bigger than Penns87's... So here's a breakdown of my average time for each loading :

Prologue > Chap. 1 : 40s Chap. 1 > Chap. 2 : 34s Chap. 2 > Chap. 3 : 37s Chap. 3 > Chap. 4 : 20s Chap. 4 > Chap. 5 : 52s Chap. 5 > Chap. 6 : 61s Chap. 6 > Epilogue : 34s

That makes a total of : 278s (or 4m38s). Penns87's total on his PB is : 251s (or 4m11s)

Penns87 and any new runner, can you give a similar breakdown please. It is not a vital, but I'd like to see how and where it varies (and eventually understand why).

ps : Also, it can be helpful for you to know approximately your average total load time so you can estimate your IGT without having to calculate every time. ;)

4. Couldn't be here, I didn't have internet access since 3 or 4th of August... Anyway, for the Any% categories, puting "IGT" in the name is not the solution... It's not representative of the difference there is between the two categories. We should use a similar solution that speedrun.com/smb used : naming the glitch (Wrong Warp in that case) and then naming one category "any%" (no WW allowed) and the other "any% WW" (use of the WW). We may call it Wrong Warp, but it's not really a wrong warp... We also could call this glitch the 5_5 OoB, 5_5OoB, 55OoB or something like that, but it's not really sexy... 5OB, SOB, maybe ?... I dunno...

By the way, as soon as I get back to my appartement, I'm gonna give you an edited OTS-map (the one prettzl did 3months ago) with all the levels id. I did it like 2 months ago while looking through all level files. I guess it could be useful if you want to edit any level. ;)

Edit : Now that I have finished reading all, here a few more things I want to say.

The flags are most certainly for langage selection, because devs are brasilians (so I suppose the game exist in brasilian portuguese), and the game has for sure been translated in english (USA) and french. Plus, in \ots\Action\game\world, there's a LanguageSelection.as file where you can find out the three langages offered in the choice are : English, French and Brasilian.

I found this like the first time I ran this game and thought it was common knowledge... :/

Btw, the first ships we encounter have 3 healths, slightly bigger ships have 5 and the biggest one have 10. Our ship has 10 healths too, but I guess this was obvious enough.

Also, if you want to have a bit of fun, you should try to switch the ships type in \Steam\SteamApps\common\outtheresomewhere\shmup\ships.json by any of the following : [player|bigShip|shipFast|shipTiny]

You can also change their behaviour to "still" to get some nice big and compact formations. (Other options being [still|sin1|sin2|straigth])

I also boosted my health bar to 1K to be able to ignore their bullets.

Edit : While modifying this file for the fun, I also discovered this 2 facts : 1.a) One ship kill will randomly drop a loot. (already known fact) 1.b) As long as 1 loot or less (being 0) has been picked up, the loot droped by the ship will be a Power Core. 2.) Once 2 Power Cores have been collected, every future loot will be a health pack. Picking up this health pack will give you 1 heart back.

Edit²: Yeah, I know it's not useful for speedrun, but fuck it.

Haven't read all this post yet, but rezoons message has gotten my interest, it's been 2 months or so I, myself, started looking at the code. Though, in the last month, I lost a lot of time on the levels' code... for... reasons... What file (OTS.oep I guess) and line is this from ?

Well ok... A little could be nice so here's my "reason" : I'm working on a small level editor for OTS. I'm gonna create a separate post for this later this morning ; cause yeah, it's already fuckin' 2am here. :'(

ps : if there's at least 3 or 4 people interested, I might also work on a "beginners decription guide" so people with programming background could understand a few things when reading the code.
