the oldest speedrun i remember watching was the dk64 any% run at gdq in 2013/2014 then in 2016 i tried out running sm64 16 star though i dont remember what made me do it. speedrunning was cool but 16 star is a bad category so i went through multiple games trying to find the one for me

yes. but everyone would highly recommend you go download OBS instead, its free and has no limitations

note that you dont need to submit your runs to the boards to speedrun. if breaks arent allowed in your game then screw it run anyway

ive never heard anyone say that. people who do time trials (at least in the mk community) mostly call themselves "time trialers" instead of speedrunners but the time trialing is definetly speedrunning. as speedrunning is: "complete a task in a video game with the intent to be as fast as possible" and time trialing is literally that. you try to complete the time trial as fast as possible thus its speedrunning but since the community is somewhat different to the "actual speedrunning" community its safer to say time trialing is a subgenre of speedrunning

ive just ran what ive felt like and for how long ive felt like. though id say ape escape has "always" been my main game series which ive been running since 2018 but i started running in 2016 with sm64 16 stars but realized how bad that category is

if you can install OBS on mac you can window capture the browser with livesplit one and then gamecapture to get the game. then fit them around on the canvas as you like

the forums should have somesort of blacklisted words and such. would help with the people merl mentioned and could be used to stop some of the forum bots from posting
