So this glitch works in 31cc as well, but there's a way to skip missions where you:
100% complete a trial while using a dummy mech variant (a copy of an existing mech variant)
Go to combat simulator after completing the mission
Select the mech and mech variant you are using in your campaign
Delete the variant you are using
Go back to campaign and start the mission
What ends up happening is that it skips the mission and loads a previous victory instead. If there is no previous victory, the mission will fail and the mission won't be skipped.
Now for the amendment
We also found a method to skip underwater strike, but that doesn't require a mech to be deleted, so I propose that we allow the underwater strike glitch in the full bloodname% category since it is done using the speed glitch and the only way for it to work is to complete all of trial 3 beforehand. Since it does not use the mech deleting glitch, it should be allowed.
I'm mainly asking because I would like to keep the ability to fully run the game without using the mech deleting glitch to make runs more fun in the long run while at the same time, having a nice way to skip a mission that, quite frankly, everyone hates in the full bloodname% and have a separate category for the mech deleting glitch.
We shall await your verdict:
In the meantime, here's a run that demonstrates both the underwater strike skip and the mech deletion skip as well:
Ever since the discovery of the mission skipping in mech 2, I was thinking about having separate categories. One for completing every mission and another for just utilizing starmate skipping.
Sprint Jump: Running and jumping repeatedly while releasing sprint mid jump and reengaging it upon landing. Essentially doubles your movement speed and mitigates stamina loss. You can move the mouse to somewhat control where you're going in midair
Pause Falling: Pause the game at any point when near the ground after falling from a great height to prevent getting any sort of fall damage.
Falconer and I were talking about this the other day and I think it would be a good way to not only get new people to speedrun this game, but encourage competition as well as make level grinds all the more fun to do.
We finally got a game page up for this game. https://speeddemosarchive.com/MechWarrior2.html
Well, we now have a game page for Ghost Bear's Legacy on SDA. Hopefully this will get more people to run this game in the future.
Any difficulty, no bloodright missions (for obvious reasons), using IGT for calculation. We have this in Mech 2 as well except we use medium difficulty for those. I think it's a fun way to practice this game and still compete for the fastest time. The only problems would be the trials since hitting F12 at the end doesn't really apply, plus trial 3 can be skipped entirely, so you'd probably have to be in the middle of the campaign to accurately time it. Here's an example:
Does anyone here know where I can hit the thing in a consistent manner? There have been times where I completely emptied my autocannons with both a stormcrow and a new strat I found with a jenner carrying a UAC20 on it, and it just refuses to take hits.
