In the rules it says: -Timer starts as soon as you enter first-person mode.
And: -Timer ends when SpongeBob touches the ground after being saved.
Yet, the second place run (Rybread's PB as of now), seems to not be timed like that. After retiming the run based on the current rules, it comes out to be a 4:48.
I was wondering if the retiming rules had changed and the rules were just not updated here, or if the run was retimed wrong?
I feel like we've grown enough to warrant a little server to start. And it'd be good to have just in case this run blows up ever. And chatting about speedrun stuff in the main server just feels wrong idk. Also it's so hard chatting with my fellow runners on SRC DMS
I'm going to start working on a simple little guide for the current route! A tutorial for every individual stage :D
is fast text hardware based, or am I doing something wrong? I think the text gets skipped faster with just holding down mouse, but that's very inconsistent. It doesn't even feel like it's skipping faster at all. So my conclusions are i'm either doing something wrong, or it's hardware based and this game sucks
also I found a new skip that's faster than current any%
I have found 2 glitches so far. Both very hard to pull off, but one most likely being a frame perfect.
The first clip shows the end-flag pause glitch (still workshopping name). This is the one that is most likely a frame perfect timing. If you hit the esc key (pausing the game) right when you hit the end flag, you can trigger the end of the level, and have the pause menu up. You can then skip the end level cutscene and go straight to the level menu, selecting your next level. I am pretty sure it works on every level, so optimally it would be used for every level except the last in a speedrun.
The second clip shows a slightly easier glitch the double jump. If you hit space (jump) twice in quick succession, you will do a double jump. I have not tested as much as the end-flag pause glitch, so I do not know what use it will have in other levels, but for level 3 specifically, it allows you to get the cereal box without slowing down, or going left. It will require more testing, and I will probably post update forums with clips of new strategies and glitches in the future!
I've played this game a lot, with only a few completed runs (only 2 being pb's) and i've noticed something bad. The game is very load based, and loads inbetween levels are completely dependent on hardware. So someone having better hardware and not being very good vs bad hardware and being very good, the person with the better hardware might get a better time by default. It'd be cool if load times were excluded from the final time, or if there was an autosplitter that paused the timer during loading zones.
