Individual fight runs aren't really something that people are doing at the moment. There was more of a push for them a long time ago (pre-RTA age), but it isn't really something that has stuck around, and generally if you end up doing them all at maxed post-game stat with the best setup you can, the vast majority of them become trivial and fairly uninteresting to grind out. If other people are interested we can consider it, but I don't think currently it's worth setting up.
There are 188 pages on the moderations request thread, yet on the thread I can only navigate up to page 174? Putting higher page numbers into the url works, but it seems like the navigation might be a bit wonky. https://imgur.com/iE3BmCj
Hey so I assume this has happened just because of random drifts in the schedule or whatever, but it currently seems like the Guilty Gear XRD Rev 2 finals on the second stream (Friday 22:28->23:53), and the Forced run on the first stream (Friday 23:20->00:20) are going to collide. Since I'm involved in both this is probably going to end up being an issue. Is it going to be possible to shift one of them one way or the other?
Yup runs on PC are allowed, there just aren't any yet since not many people are actively running this game currently.
I'm sure Guilty Gear/other AFGC games will take up at least a couple of stations again this year, but having a space definitely set out would make it easier on us especially when it comes to running the Xrd tournament (since finals are on stream it has to happen at some point) Probably would only need 3/4 setups (Table + 2 chairs, monitor, power for console/laptop/pc), but extra chairs for spectating would be nice so we don't have to steal chairs from the stations around us again
Hey guys, it's that time again! The 4th FF Series Relay Race is now in planning, and sign-ups are now open. You can sign up for the event and join the discord server here: http://bombch.us/Ceb9
Feel free to use this thread to discuss the event or ask any questions
Yes, or if using a PS3 it starts when you select the game on the main console menu.
While true, Introducing a category split for it would further serve to divide the already small number of runs we have on the leaderboards. You can already filter runs by disc or digital only if you don't wish to compare your time to others, but currently there is no plan to split the categories. Possibly we could change it to a sub-category from a variable down the line, but only if we get some more runners to make it seem worth the split, since currently doing it would cause most categories to only have 1 run.
A few people have started, but no-one has finished anything yet. Part of the problem is that Reflect is very very strong especially early on, but its not strong enough to carry through the whole game, so no-one has really got anything finished up
We've sorted this out inside the FF community since the original post, but thanks for the response kirkq
For now I think the way to do is NG start -> Fin (music stop) End, to match the JP run. While DS does time to CoD flash, currently there's only 1 PSP run and it makes more sense to me to match that instead of immediately making 50% of the runs on the leaderboard mis-timed either way.
"MLSTRM, There's so many trophy hunters out there, it's ridiculous. They all try to get trophies of course. There is such a low amount of people using this website compared to speedrunners on Twitch and Youtube. I could find more examples of speedruns on them than here. This is a wake up call you all. Something needs to change here to make it much different in order for it to truly grow. Whether my opinions are true or not. Something should change. "
The thing is, speedrunning is all about how you approach a game, not the content you get through. If you're playing a game with the goal to finish as fast as you can, regardless of what you do in the game, then it's a speedrun. If you want to count completion playthoughs and trophy hunting as speedrunning then I'm going to have to disagree since people don't try and do that necessarily as fast as possible. Also if you want to try and call me out on it, I'm one of the few people to have done an all trophy run in a game (Final Fantasy 13, takes like 19h to do), so I do know what I'm talking about here.
"I'm sorry but the whole speedrunning idea is only impressive if you are performing the game from beginning to end while playing the game the way it was meant to be played without skipping chapters while accomplishing all the developer created tasks (like the trophy lists within the playstation universe). "
Maybe for you, but everyone else on this site thinks differently. (Also since when did even casual players bother getting all trophies in most games, some of them are totally whack)
Also your account name is very amusing given the context of your discussion.
Because that's what the community decided to add the category as.
