I never wanted it to be called SRL honestly, I knew I had gear like that, that would make runs unfair for new players so I knew they would go into that category as well. So as far as that goes I think the category should not be named "SRL".
I dislike death warps because it's the perfect time to splice a video. I'm totally with redumbo on this one.
That and we wouldn't know if you started from a checkpoint or not. The xbox one and Ps4 both have video save features that don't require you to stream. Phone recordings will be fine though the previous all missions record was recorded with just a camera.
So long as he doesn't use the glimmer it's okay however if you start off with zero glimmer you can buy weapons and a green sparrow. I didn't watch the whole thing I just checked his mission times, if he used his glimmer at all the run is invalid. Even so his time is far from optimal, the routing I did was just as fast and I wasted a good half hour trying to figure out what gives a good chunk of exp for the time played.
TL;DR - Go to zero glimmer if you know you'll end up buying guns and zoomy zoomies from the tower. (Which you should be doing)

The current run has splits just on on screen he did post them though. If you don't show the splits on screen the posting him like they did is going to be the best way to let us know the RTA, but for NG the RTA is more important than IGT IMO because experience in TtK is not as easy to farm in vanilla Destiny.
The option doesn't work just as well at all though.
But look at the fallout 3 page? It's only speed cripple now. Not only that but it is possible for anybody to do speed cripple. It is actually impossible to get that gear now.
Yeah like basically I've spent the past 4 hours trying to get near the 2:59 Dark Beyond I have a 3:04, Like it doesn't seem possible. No matter what I'm running against that helmet with the checklist. It's not fair to have a run with more optimized movement be slower because the helmet saves that much time
Okay so now everytime I run I have to go to someone else and be like hey man hope you're not playing Destiny at all today because I'm going to do some runs bro. Stop playing the victim card it's unfair and you know it is.
You gain time everytime you use it that mission requires 3 uses it's literally about 6 seconds. Sorry to break it to you. i also used faster strats in my 3:06. Also my argument was there is no time anywhere near 15 seconds slower compaired to old sparrows, which you used as an argument, seems like math and memorization isn't your strong point bro. Also I don't even own the Dark Beyond record lmao so I'm not even looking out my just my times Jxson is a new runner, I talked to him and even said your helmet is unfair.
Prove that go get a 3:00 even or better that legendary 2:55 you're claiming without the helmet. Do it, prove me wrong. And even when you prove me wrong do the same strats with the helmet and get a 2:50 to prove me right.

Why are you salty about this? You will have your own leaderboard you can run on! Literally if the helmet comes out again I will probably stop doing front page leaderboard runs cause I'm the same mind set I'd rather use the faster gear. The thing is nobody else can run those so why have it as out main page? It pushes new runners away, Clever has been going hard on Reddit trying to grow this community and it's working considering new runners randomly show up all the time now.
If something like my matador 64 was too broken, and I actually used it in a run to save one second, just ONE. I would stop using it and deny all of my runs because it's no longer obtainable by anyone. Why is it so hard to give this up? Also Clever uses the helmet in every single coop run I am prepared to remove every run I have with Clever because they're unfair to any coop runners. That's literally a whole full game run, along with like 15 records. I have no qualms moving my times to an SRL leaderboard. When times are so optimized as they're getting even 1 second from an unfair helmet is impossible to beat.
I don't care for the records all I care about is being competitive and this helmet ruins the idea of speedrunning Destiny because I have no edge.
Okay I'm going to go at scaredrows first post point by point.
First off, plenty of communities have banned things because it's unfair for certain runners, elder scrolls, fallout, etc. It has never split a community. The helmet existing is splitting it right now cause if something isn't done I'm qutting cause it's pure bull shit
The dark beyond helmet has 3 uses of the helmet each use saves literally 2 seconds, you have 6 seconds nobody else can get, EVER. Not some stupid ass .8 seconds. That run is impossible to beat now, the best run I have is a 3:06 and I spent a few hours on it.
You say it's not to remove times from the main leaderboard, they'll still have their own leaderboard and they migtht eventually be merged, but right now the main thing new runners see is they can no longer run certain missions I.E. literally any sparrow mission because they had to be playing back in December

There are 3 gears that are basically required for speedruns, gally for 3 mission, hard light for 3 missions, and celest for 5 missions. You can get a rare upgraded sparrow which is just as fast as the SR1 as fizh has proven. So the gear argument is pure bullshit to try to save your unfair advantage
Again some communities ban the fastest stuff so it's a fair playing ground for everyone You'll still have your own leaderboard, like what's the point of running if you have no competiton? Sounds to me like you just want to records to yourself with no hassle from anyone else
Nobody is splitting from the community, over not having the helmet if you quit because you can't use the helmet for the main leaderboard it just goes back to the whole, "I want free world records that nobody can try to contest"
There is no level that has anywhere near 15 seconds of time save due to the sparrow it's 4 at the highest oddly enough your helmet can save more time on more mission hmm how convient for you.
Stop with the .95 second sure it spawns .95 seconds faster, you also gain the advtange of moving for that .95 second, it's 2 seconds because of the movement gained as well. Think of it like being stopped in traffic after going 60 on the highway you stopped for one minute but you lost 2 minutes of time because you could've been moving that whole minute as well
Anyways hope all that makes sense, your points are bull shit trying to save an unfair advantage so you can keep uncontested free world records
I mean but it's still the same leaderboard? Like I meant it should be a whole separate category because the gear is completely unique and entirely unobtainable. It just feels extremely unfair considering only one runner is using it, if someone gets a 2:26 with the helmet I would literally have to become a robot to get the same time without it. I talked to Jxson about it as well since he's a new runner and he feels the same way. The current 2:59 Dark Beyond is now entirely unobtainable to us because the gear is completely unique.
I hate to be the guy that advocates this because it's faster and it is a speedrun and I would 100% prefer that everyone used it and it be the main category for use in runs. But anybody that got the game for Christmas or later can't join in on the community because now they have to compete with something they can't get nobody how hard they farm or lucky they get. It's literally the only piece of gear that is this broken for speedruns and it's completely unobtainable. Like if competitive PvP tournaments can ban certain weapons I.E. Thorn, I think we should be able to atleast be an entirely separate category for the helmet. (Although I would still prefer it be banned I can't be that huge of an ass)
So in short I think it's better to have it as it's own category like the Pre 2.1 category, with the potential to be merged if the gear becomes permanently available. I also believe that with the helmet all the categories can be merged because it speeds it up enough to where the sparrow slow down patch is negated.
Again I'm sorry to be so salty about this, but it has legitimately ruined the idea of running any pre taken king mission for me which sucks because those are my favorite missions to run. Because the idea that every mission that I run will be immediately worthless cause someone with the helm can immediately use my route and take it with less optimized movement and more mistakes doesn't make sense to me and ruins to idea of running this game at all.
Username and I came up with a plan C, mainly his idea, and Like we have the pre 2.1 category we just add an SRL helmet category which can be merged if the perk ever becomes permanently available.

If you can't tell from my 1:27 Dark Within run I am super salty about the existence of the helmet....
