I'm in the process of creating a segmented run of XD from a fresh file to the Eldes fight of the Orre Colosseum.

It's similar to All Gold Symbols in Emerald, in that it's long, difficult, and not going to be an official category anytime soon.

It took a while to route a team of four, and it's going to take a while to catch, reset for specific IVs, purify, grind, and somewhat EV train to even stand a chance in the Orre Colosseum.

My original route had Larvitar, but with the amount of luck needed to get a wooper, trade it, reset for good IVs, and train it to Tyranitar, I thought that catching a Shadow Salamence would be a better option.

My team: Espeon, Snorlax, Salamence, and Zapdos.

This segmented run will take a while to make, considering the amount of hax crap in Pokemon games. It's also suboptimal, so expect a bunch of mistakes equal to a bad TAS.

It's a dumb idea, since the "Intended" way to play MM is very arbitrary depending on who you ask, but I feel like it would be a good meme category. Maybe part of the category extensions.

It's just like Dank% in OoT and MM. A funny meme, and nothing else.

Tower Colosseum, Orre Colosseum, and Mt Battle in battle mode are, in my opinion, difficult, but fun. I've been playing those modes with mons that you can get in Colo, but genned with perfect IVs, and optimal held items, EV distribution, natures, and movesets to route a theoretically faster run. The bad thing is, without genning/save editors, you can only get these very good stats by breeding, which you can't do in Colosseum/XD.

For example, the very first battle in Tower Colosseum Singles always (For me, at least) sends out an Umbreon. That Umbreon's moveset I have known by heart since I was a kid; Mean Look, Confuse Ray, Screech, and Double Team. Not the best set, but it's a special kind of stall set meant to annoy the player. (I hate evasion boosting moves. I know Taunt is a thing, but I still hate it lol)

Luckily, a Megahorn from a choice banded, Adamant Heracross will OHKO it if it hits.

What does everyone think about this idea for a category? Every Colosseum in battle mode and Mt Battle vs 100. (Ho-oh%?)

Since the PC version comes out tomorrow, (Yes, I can finally play it!) what advantages would PC have over console?

Loading times will be much faster, (If you have an SSD) and Mania isn't graphically intensive, so it can run on a bloody potato like my laptop lol. (Intel core i5 2520m, 6gb of RAM, 128gb generic Samsung SSD, Intel HD 3000 integrated graphics)

Assuming Mania will pull a Super Meat Boy and have a key combination that allows you to clip through walls, I can't think of anything advantageous besides instant loading.

Mania also has controller support, so I won't be surprised if some players use controllers instead of a keyboard.

For a controller, I plan on using a GameCube controller until I can build an all-button fightstick optimized for this game.

Why a GCC and not a PS4 controller? Gamecube controllers have a button layout similar to the Genesis pad, so I can swipe my thumb for 6-tap spindashes.

I know the last story is really short, but I wonder how well it would do as a category. Both any% and no CCG.

The Eeveelution that you start with has been an interesting topic in the XD community. Some pros and cons of both.

Espeon pros:

Espeon's special attack is slightly better than Jolteon's, leading to more OHKO's and less damage rolls in some cases.

The rare unprotected Earthquake is less fatal, though Espeon's physical defense is still absolute crap.

Cons

Any dark type will have to be dealt with by Ursaring, losing time in some cases.

Since Bite is much less powerful than STAB Thunder, unless Ursaring gets a crit with Double Edge, you're losing time in the fight against Lugia.

Jolteon pros

Thunder is more powerful than Psychic, and can sweep through most bosses in the game.

Jolteon gets Thunder much earlier than when Espeon gets Psychic.

Jolteon has a higher speed stat, so a quiet nature won't hurt as much.

Cons

Loses time in Naps, Snattle, and Gorigan due to the electric typing of Thunder.

Thunder has 70% accuracy compared to Psychic's 100%. So you either have to be the luckiest person alive, or buy a crapload of X Accuraccies.

Unprotected earthquakes will most likely OHKO Jolteon.

What do you guys think about Jolteon vs Espeon?

Why is Megamix timed by RTA instead of in game time? The Sega CD's loading times are atrocious.

Do Colosseum and XD go by in game time, or do they go by real time like the rest of the Pokemon games?

Also, if I reset it I get a bad second starter, would that invalidate my run, since IGT rules work that way.

MM community, I don't know if this has been discovered by anyone yet, but it is very situational. This was tested on Japanese Virtual Console.

Whenever Link walks, runs, or rolls on ice, there is a sliding animation because ice physics are in effect. Casually, this can be a problem, but when speedrunning, you can just equip the Goron Mask and you'll be fine.

While screwing around in Mountain Village trying to find out new frame data to write, I found out that if you pause on a specific part of the walk/run cycle, the sliding/ice physics are canceled. This also works with rolls, backwalks, and side hops, and walking sideways while Z-targeting.

One run cycle is about 10 to 11 frames. A roll is about 12 frames. If you pause buffer about 3 or 4 frames before the roll ends, the ice physics will be canceled. I don't know the specific frame data for cancelling the ice physics for a run cycle or a backwalk, but right after you let go of the analog stick, (about 1 or 2 frames) start pausing.

I would have a video to link (unintended pun) but I didn't record this thing with my elgato before typing this.

I don't know if anyone has discovered this yet. If someone has, please reply.

Has anyone archived the frame data for every conceivable thing in Majora's Mask, like Super Smash Bros Melee? I know that there are some things that are common knowledge among the community, like ISG and Time Stop frame data, but for the past few days, I have been trying to write down the frame data for Majora's Mask; every single thing. Including stupid things that nobody cares about, like the frame data for Tatl's wings flapping, and Link's idle animations. I don't know if my data is accurate, but I plan on testing said data for accuracy later on.
