what is AMA, ASN, BAR, DRU, NEC, PAL, AND SOR?

probably a total noob question but just thinking about running this game and am not familiar with those?

So am I suppose to do something special to catch the nido in 1 poke ball? everyone else just throws it and then poof! its caught... I can't seem to catch it in 10 balls lol

is there a button press or something I am suppose to do?
