You had a tantrum and deleted the entire leaderboard after buying/acquiring a mod's password. The only thing you deserve is a site-wide ban.

We removed your 9:52 run for being partially TASed/cheated. You can't expect to keep runs on the boards after you're caught cheating.

Youtube's system often (incorrectly) flags the Autumn Plains music, it's a pretty common thing. You could file a counter-notice I suppose, but as you probably know YT is pretty shitty with that kind of thing.

Personally I know next to nothing about PPSSPP, but considering it's not designed for PS1 emulation I'd be very surprised if it stacks up to ePSXe or Mednafen in terms of accuracy. No reason to use it when there are good PS1 emulators out there.

The former, definitely. Official console releases are the gold standard in speedrunning, any non-official platform has to be shown to be accurate enough to those official releases before it can be allowed.

I personally was not aware of any issues with ePSXe 1.7/1.8, I'm glad that has been brought up. I would not be opposed to changing the list of approved emus to ePSXe 1.9x, XEBRA/ARBEX and Mednafen. Thoughts?

In the past, these boards have had no rules regarding which PS1 emulators are acceptable and which aren't. Some recent discussions, along with some submissions on emulators known to be innacurate (namely pSX), have prompted a change to this policy.

From now on, ePSXe 1.7 and higher are allowed for PS1 games. All other emulators are banned.

We understand that with the existence of FDS and VFDS, almost every PS1 emulator is slower than the fastest official release. Loading times, however, are not the only factor. PSXfin and PCSX-r have known innacuracies in Spyro 3, and we simply don't have enough knowledge of other emulators to justify allowing them.

Feel free to respond to this thread if you have any issues with this ruling, we welcome any and all input from the community. -Dact

NTSC-J Spyro 2 only has a couple of runs, but the leaderboard is attached to the Crash boards at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MxQI2kaGdKXyH_qR81qGnIeNUB5oH5K8UhyqIkNrxwc/edit#gid=13

They start timing from New Game and generally use SDS for more even competition.

The analog mapping in Spyro 2 and 3 is broken. The angles achieved with down-left and down-right on the dpad are impossible with analog, so you can't turn as sharply.

If you're used to playing with analog, I would recommend switching as soon as possible. The worse you are when you switch, the easier it'll be.

Submission Form: Game Name: Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! System: PS1, played on PS2 Category: 100% Gameplay Estimate: 2:00:00 Sample run video: Description: A childhood favourite for many PS1 kids, Spyro 2 is a 3D collectathon in which we abuse broken movement techniques and lazy level construction to completely ignore the intended path through the game. In the 100% run we make use of major skips to acquire endgame abilities early, then use them to blast through all the levels. Availability: Should be available any time before 4am UTC on the 31st

Use of the PS2 Fast Disc Speed setting will now be allowed for Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Previously, this setting was disallowed as a result of functionality issues directly caused by enabling the setting; however it is possible to consistently correct these issues when they occur.

Here is an estimated comparison of Standard Disc Speed and Fast Disc Speed (credit to Breakingu):

I think aiming for consistency between the games is pretty futile. Spyro 1 runs use FDS, banning it here will just mean no-one will bother with these boards for Spruno. Spyro 3 uses SDS for obvious reasons. The three games are different - I think it makes more sense to be consistent across categories in the same game.

As annoying as it is for someone to get WR because of loading times, the alternative is to arbitrarily ban something which is completely accepted in all the other categories.

Just put an asterisk next to FDS times and have a note somewhere saying that it saves roughly X amount of time over SDS/PS1/emu.
