Does this have functionality that LiveSplit does not?

What were some of your best experiences while speedrunning? Curious to see what people find most enjoyable. For example, my favorite experience was finding a bug in Dark Wizard where I could place units wherever I want.

Just use emulation on a pc then you can use save states for practice and it requires way less effort to record.

@Bemels Most people will look to the current WR holders and the ones near them for strategy and such, but you need to remember that these are leaderboards. The current WR run will probably fall in rankings. So what used to be a WR run could very well be dead last. So if you have the viewpoint that non WR are maybe ok with being cheated, then you could have cheated runs better than previous WR runs.

This would be an insidious corruption of the community where no one can trust any submitted run, nor rely on the experts of the game, the mods, to accurately judge and place their runs. If runners have no trust in the mods, then there really is no point for mods. If there is no trust in mods then you cannot trust the leaderboards. A corrupted leaderboard undermines the whole point of the community on this site. Without trust few would want to submit their runs on the site, and the community would definitely suffer.

That is why it is important for mods to judge each run as best they can and to prevent cheated runs.

it is almost like there needs to be a sticky for this question in particular. Every couple days it gets asked at least once.

People have lives outside of this site and some times of the year many countries have celebrations and holidays so there is that to consider too. December tends to be a wash at least in the USA. I was half expecting my request to get evaluated after New Years, but that did not happen so that's cool.

Years ago I had made a speedrun of this: https://www.speedrun.com/Silent_Bomber/run/6yj96noz . The mod had submitted my run there from sda which is fine. This was years before I even had an account here. But now that I have a lot of stuff on this site I would like to have the run attached to this account. Any way to do this?

If you look back at older games there are a lot of stinkers. I do agree that the money-grabbing trend has been ridiculous with all the different editions and the pushing of micro transactions. It is a huge problem that is essentially making the industry stale. Afraid to innovate due to potentially poor sales these money grabbing companies will continue to put out stale content that will be guaranteed to at least be "decent". These "decent" games will in the long run turn off gamers ...at least that is my expectation.

Most recent games do not interest me. Why? Because many are the same content that was peddled before only with a different skin. Look at what happened to Halo, COD, GTA, Mega Man, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, etc. They can be a fun distraction, but I would only ever buy them after they have been out awhile and used. The only recent games that seem pretty innovative are phone and VR games. Some of those are pretty interesting. But again many of the phone games have made what could be a normal rewarding game with a grinding freak show unless you open your wallet. VR seems hopeful to me, but I am still on the fence due to a lack of titles.

Every recent game is not mediocre, sometimes using the same type of game play works great. Look at Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Monster Hunter: World, Doom (2016), or Uncharted 4. Extremely high quality games that are not particularly innovative, but just done to a really high level.

So while "Everything isn't completely shit, but most of it is." is too pessimistic, but if you are looking for something new and exciting and innovative "AAA companies" or whatever you want to call them are probably not going to risk millions or maybe even billions of dollars on something completely new.

A good comparison to the current video game market is the movie business. Think about the most recent movies you have watched. Seen anything really new or innovative lately? Probably not. A few great ones, a couple good ones, but most are just passable.

When you say recently does that mean you have been doing the same stuff as before, but now its laggy? Or you have been maybe putting more objects on screen and causing it to lag more than previously? Lag is present in most games to some extent but 15-20 minutes worth of lag sounds really excessive.

One game that seems to have lots of lag reduction as a main speedrun tactic is Pokemon Snap. Makes for a terrible viewing experience though since 90% of the time they are looking at the sky or the ground.

Probably the worst lag I have ever seen was in Ninja Gaiden II the original. The staircase battle was insanely laggy. I am talking like 1 frame every couple seconds at some points. The sakura tree like area had awful lag too earlier in the game too. To counter act the lag in those parts I basically avoided fighting in those areas and skipped as much as possible. Most of NGII ran mostly fine though.

I submitted a game request for Metomaqester, but in Japan it is known as Oni - The NInja Master. How does the site deal with this? Will it be searchable under both names? Would I have to set that up somehow? Thanks.

To get the registration card you have to enter the names of the creatures in the forest and yourself. How did you just put in the disk and then get the registration card back immediately? It occurs at 5:25. I guess this is some kind of glitch?

Make sure that the capture window for Livesplit in OBS is actually pointing to it. Clearing all capture sources and starting from scratch might help. Also make sure you did not click the Hide icon (the eye) on the source.

Have you tried Display Capture? Later in a video editing program you can always crop the video.

Also sometimes OBS will freak out on me and display a black screen if I come back from Sleep mode or something. You could try closing and reopening the program with the older settings.

Ok cool the responses were more positive than I was thinking they would be. Obtainable goals are good for sure, with the game request I will submit a video too of what it should entail along with notes. That was it is obtainable and clear what should be expected. I will be taking a shot those this week sometime. If src does not accept them then they will still be on my channel in any case once I get those down. Thanks.

@Lieutenant_Boo Wow that Llama game has...character. I was actually thinking of doing a text based adventure game at one point and that may be what I am looking for.
