Old SSG seed is better for beginners because the new one favors a four-bed, which is hard to pull off for beginners

1. I recommend Nestopia UE for minimal input delay.
2. There is a setting in Input where you can turn off L+R. It should be off already though. Hope this answered your questions!

They are not exactly the same. Like I said before, some of them prevent you from doing skips and not all the levels are like that

A lot of the levels are similar but some of it is in caves, preventing you from performing large scale skips

There's also a level skipping glitch
