I don't want to watch the whole run to see what he did different over the other runners, so can somebody tell me why his record is 11 seconds faster than the previous record

He used a new route in sand kingdom (for example I'm pretty sure that the potted plants were not a part of it before), which was much faster. He also had a slightly different route in some other places and generally played really well. He also used version 1.3 of the game, which might have something to do with it.

The only major timesaves between his 59:46 and his 59:59 were 1) the new sand route and 2) faster loading times on 1.3.

He also has really fast shards. He still lost 12 seconds in MSSL so the record can go to a 3X easy.
