This is a quick guide on the key glitches, all were discovered back in mid-2012. It changed Shadow Complex completely from a Metroid Zero Mission tier in sequence breaks, to something more broken than Castlevania SoTN.

No storage device selected exploits: [Original 360 version only]

This is a bizzare bug, it requires at least 2 storage devices connected at the same time.

  • Xbox's external harddrive
  • Xbox 360 (Original model) Memory unit (only original models)
  • Xbox S Model's 4gb flash drive (unsure if Xbox E has this)
  • USB memory stick (required if you are using E models I guess)

Once you have loaded up the game, it will ask you to select a storage device. From here you press B to play through the game without saving.

This enables you to:

SKIP THE PROLOGUE (all categories) by quitting the game right after the controls screen and then reloading up the save.

Skip backtracking. (Any% only) By corner warping to the trap room and triggering the cutscene, use load last save to warp back to the most recent save station and go to the lake to trigger the final battle.

Z-sliding.

Pronounced Zed rather than Zee.

An interesting trick that works well for 2.5D games. It enables Jason to go around certain obstacles, usually small sized grenade rocks, small foam fan obstacles and square shaped small rocket doors.

Uses:

Any% Early foam Z-slide: Start up with an odd angle which is done by standing on a slope and look up, then move the left stick to the 11 o'clock position and you can go forwards by moving the left stick to the 2 o'clock position, every time you sprint and then crouch to perform a crouch slide, the angle adjusts making it possible to go around some obstacles.

100% Really minor stuff:

You can Z-Slide and then jump to go through the pipes in the section high above the mine cart jump. You can Z-Slide through a small rocket door to skip having to go through the crawl space section where there is a giant fan blowing downwards partway through.

Note, 100% runs do not use Early Foam/Missiles because it disables the cutscene for the first intended expansion making 100% impossible.

Corner Warping:
[Original 360 version only]

The corner warp glitch is very picky input wise, you have to 'fall down' but also 'climb down' at the same time. This is ends up becoming a glitchy fall and if you perform a glitchy fall towards a corner.... you warp.

Uses:

Any% - Right after Claire gets taken away, you create a 4 foam block tower and glitchy fall towards the sealed door to corner warp into the trap room.

100% - After collecting all of the expansions in the -intended- missile section, you create a foam tower and glitchy fall towards a wall to corner warp to the scuba gear.

Not a true corner warp but you can glitchy fall through a trap door that allows you to skip destroying a human mech boss right before Friction Dampener

Skip the underwater spider boss

After picking up the top right most health expansion, you can glitchy fall to the right wall to go Out of Bounds, hold left ASAP and do a least 2 extra jumps (triple jump power up at this point) to land in a save room that is next to the room with the rapid firing turret. This skips having to use the elevators in your second visit.

After picking up all of the expansions in the section where you turn the valve switch to raise the water, you glitchy fall towards a secured door (thanks to enemies spotting you) to corner warp right next to the hidden life expansion right before the factory.
