I've been playing RE4 for years. I've never done an official Speedrun but I'm interested in doing so. The closest I've gotten to doing one is NG+ on the PS3 with a time of 2:27(that's from the PS3 online leaderboard). Don't know what that translates to a timed run though. I want advice on what platforms to run? I got the NTSC versions on GC, Wii, PS3, PS4, and PC. I know I got great resources here so I just really want to know how to get started. Thanks!

I would recommend to just run the PC steam version. It has the fastest loading times out of all versions and with that the fastest possible cleartimes. It tends to crash tho and suffers from some performance problems.

If you dont care too much about the speed you could always go for the WIi or the HD Console versions. Very stable versions, but slower than steam. NTSC Gamecube is quite different from other versions for speedruns, so I would not recommend it.

PC is definitely the most popular platform and the best experience in terms of fast paced game play. Like Phaero said, wii is a super solid version, there's just no one playing it atm. Gamecube is very different (especially NTSC) and is a pretty cool run. When it comes to considering GC, I suggest you watch a run, with this version you will either feel instantly drawn to it or instantly turned off by it.

Basically, just study some runs on these different versions and see what appeals most to you! Everyone here is very willing to help new comers so don't hesitate to ask any other questions you may have either here or even in our streams. I also recommend checking out RE4Central on Youtube if you've never seen this channel, it is loaded with resources useful for learning.
