Allowing VC and Emu/Console splits for main categories

Hi everyone, I really would like to try Tournaments% on Wii VC because there is a lot of lag on Nintendo 64 versions (I hate lags), and I would like to know if it is possible to create sub-categories for differents platforms (Wii VC, Wii U VC, Switch NSO and Emulators), I think it will attract more players who want to try speedrunning this game, like Super Mario 64 or Mario Party 1 for examples.

i agree with this! been wanting this for a long time. i mean n64s aren't exactly getting younger and reproduced. it's only a matter of time before they all stop working.

Ask Goose. He basically founded the MG64 speedrunning community. I always called this "The Goose Doctrine" in my broadcasts.

I think the main reason is that enabling VC would tarnish the legacies of previous speedrunners. I myself am not opposed to the idea of VC being miscellaneous categories. NOT main categories.

a sub category split wouldn't change their legacy at all all that does bring more people to the game. they can still play. Many games do this Mario 64 does this and quite a bit of games do this. not adding something to allow other people effectively bars them from entry. and the hardware required to play isn't as accessible as you all think now in days. this used to be the case in early 2012-2016 era but these things are becoming more difficult to find.

switch vc and other avenues of playing only offer a subcategory it changes absolutely nothing as far as n64 runs are and they'd still exist because switch vc, wii vc, wii u vc only just add another tab for people to submit their times.

I find this whole doctrine you speak of arbitrary and old fashioned. this is coming from a speedrun purist take of that what you will.

I think adding subcategories only allow these people to be able to play and submit their times DOES NOT affect N64 at all. you can even make n64 the default tab. (it's what SM64 community does)

I wholly agree. But I'm not Goose. Take it up with him.

Question on this, are emulators allowed for submitting stroke play runs on individual courses?
