I just got the goldsrc package version 2.4 i tried launching it and it said

Note: This version has not be tested on your kernel version. Retrieving "hl.exe" process id. Failed to retrieve process id. Waiting for process to be started.

Idk what this means if anyone has a clue thx for letting me know

You need to run hl.exe file

I'm still getting the same error, even after opening Half Life.exe

Sometimes, when trying to open the .bat, a process is mistakenly opened in the background, check with the task manager that there is no "injector.exe", "rinput.exe" or "hl.exe" opened.
