Is there a specific reason why a new profile is required for a run? I want to test some of the unlockable characters such as Mothra and others in any% and was curious about the decision.
That was the previous moderator's ruleset. I never tampered with it after I became a moderator. I also never fully played through action mode so I don't know if there are differences. Possibly post a completed run with a non base-game character and I can compare.
So what I've confirmed, and will be uploading later once I've gotten the chance.
-Godzilla 90's stages remain the same, I discovered this on stream previously but have confirmed it again.
-King Ghidora, an unlockable character, has different stages but is slower due to challenges based on destruction of the cities being its challenges, both being around 3 minutes long.
Ghidora's situation is similar to Godzilla 2000's stages having a 3 minute long challenge as well. The fights themselves could have an impact on timing as well as certain monsters are easier than others depending on who you fight with. Examples being that both mecha godzilla and mecha king ghidora are fairly quick fights with Ghidorah.
I don't think using the same profile effects anything, nothing purchasable affects gameplay past unlocking characters to use in vs and story. In terms of any%, separating by monster might be worth it simply due to the fact some have guaranteed time loss compared to others simply based on the challenge of their action mode stages.

Too many monster subcategories would be cluttering, I think the best option would be to add filters for all the monsters, which allows people to sort by monster if they please.
I'm not the most savvy with this site, would that allow separate runs from one runner? Say to compare a Ghidorah run against the current 90's standard. Pretty sure a filter would just show their best run on the board no matter the monster.

Filters do not separate the runs, but allow users the option to filter between viewing all runs done with a certain monster. I think this is better than creating subcategories of all the monsters simply to avoid a cluttered leaderboard.
I understand that, but given that there aren't many active runners, I don't think the filter would do much at the moment since it'll only show PBs and 90's Godzilla is currently the bets choice for that (that I've finished testing anyway). It being a small game I don't mind not getting the change tho, I just wanted an excuse to get other monsters ran after I do it. (Particularly Mothra/Rodan/Ghidora).
I think the filter would be great for all challenges though, since all monsters would have to complete the same challenges, none of them have a immediate disadvantage.
I do think the profile thing needs to be removed though. It prevents testing with new monsters (regardless if the result ends with 90s still being the fastest), but doesn't really have much use that I've found outside of flooding the number of profiles I have when I do attempts.
I would say the same for different subcategories. A majority of them would be completely empty until people run them, and even so, this game is small, I can't see more people picking this game up. Filters are a better fit with the current state of the leaderboard. Filters are quite literally the same as subcategories, just without the cluttering, and the option for people to choose what they would like to filter, whether it would be All or a single monster. Subcategories will be empty and cluttered.
