This will go down as the one of the dumbest things that discord has done, which is nowhere NEAR as bad as what twitch is doing right now.

I don't understand why'd they remove the tags. It's literally allowing people to choose the username they want, even if it's taken. It's a genius idea, and for some reason, Discord thinks it's a flaw. People with basic usernames are going to end up having to change their usernames to something else. It's stupid and idiotic that Discord would do something like this.

This is a horrible idea for privacy reasons, but also I'm just really sad that I probably won't get to keep the username @Merl_ on discord.

I claimed a rare name on my old Discord account from 2015 but I also think it was one of the most stupid decisions they have ever made. Now an entire new market of Discord usernames is gonna form and now a lot more people will want to collect as many of these rare names and they will do anything to get them, including hacking other people's accounts. It's a genuinely sad direction that they took with those usernames, I honestly think the tag system didn't need any changes because it was a very clever workaround system.
