I have just started speedrunning and I think I'd like to try out some runs on my nintendo switch like SMO or BOTW. If anybody has any good resources or can personally recommend equipment/software for recording (which would preferably be on sale for black friday) I'd very much appreciate it. IDK if this belongs here but I am a new speedrunner so :)

I prefer switch speedrunning because my computer can't really handle many emulators so many 3d games i'd be doing here but I love the idea of possibly submitting a run!

You’ll probably get some good recommendations for Switch capture cards, but for starting out, pointing a phone camera at your TV would be perfectly acceptable. Have fun!

What exactly is your budget for a capture card? HDMI capture cards can run from about $90 or so all the way up to multiple hundreds of dollars. It should also be noted that only a regular Switch that can use the dock can be captured through a card; a Switch Lite can only be recorded through a phone or camera pointed at it (not sure what Switch model you have).

My budget would be around 100 but hopefully I can pick up something more than that value on sale. I do have the generic switch (I guess that's how it's called) that can dock so ye

Also (because of storage restraints on my phone) I dont think i can really record anything with my phone for speedrunning if its over an hour. If anybody's got any personal reccommendations for capture cards I would greatly appreciate it!
