Heya DC2 runners,

I think that all of you have noticed that many things are starting to change in DC2 speedrunning.
Finally PSP and Emu are no longer in the same category and subsequentialy new emulators should be approved/splitted for speedrunning in the future.
Cuz PSXJin is very old and does not work anymore well on modern GPUs.
And even because Bizhawk (although very accurated, stable and modern) cannot compete against PSXJin in terms of RTA and IGT.
Therefore, knowing about IGT is reliable also on emulators (PSN category included)... me and @WolfDNC have chose to switch from RTA to IGT for PSN and Emulator categories, just like it was many years ago before that PC version was added onto leaderboards.
I would like to know your feedback about this.

Even though I don't have any emu or psp runs, it did always strike me as odd that IGT wasn't main time ruling, especially if they, you know, emulate the console. Looking forward to seeing how this works going forward!

I think it is a good idea because RTA is really needed in the PC version only. For me, it was very weird you should launch the RTA timer while playing PS2. In the console, the value of the RTA timer is more than 10 minutes more than the IGT timer. Moreover, this value doesn't be added to the record.

Very well. So it's confirmed.
However it's necessary some time for executing these changes cuz testing new emulators.
But it's obviously that new categories are gonna be created with this.

- "Emulator" for new emulators

- "Emulator (Legacy)" for PSXJin


Anyway, the new emulators that will be tested for DC2 speedrunning are:

- Bizhawk (although it is already legit)
- Mednafen
- DuckStation

As soon as new emulators will be selected for speedrunning, new categories will be created with such as rules:

- Display FPS viewer. Enabling this option via emu settings.
- Display name emulator and related version just clicking on "Help--->Info About". Before or after the run.
- Showing RTA timer although IGT is the main tracking method. Of course it will be replaced with IGT timer when autosplitter will be available.

In the meantime, PSN category will switch from RTA to IGT.
Showing RTA timer for PSN category will still be mandatory.

Personally I wouldn't make the RTA mandatory, but rather highly recommend/suggested (In order to avoid rejections due to frame rate lost etc..) Can't the RTA be extrapolated from the VoD itself anyway? Not a fan of forcing people using Livesplits, but I'm cool either way.

Sous good. In terms of testing other emulators, namely Duckstation would you prefer runners to do runs of their own to provide for testing or is this something the mods will be testing themselves?

I'm more than happy to get a run done tonight on Duckstation if you'd like the extra info at any rate.

I have just finished testing all the emulators mentioned.

@RapixOnGaming A precise RTA cannot be extrapolated from video. RTA timer is mandatory only to understand timing in game and for avoiding splicing cases.
@MrMcsqueezy Anyone who want to contribute for testing emu is welcome. but yes, preferably more runner test emulators and more results we get.

Well done nazz. At least with that video, we know that bizhawk and mednafen have the same speed. The reason is because they share the same core for PS1 emulation. Also duckstation looks like interesting.
Knowing that there was some lag about duckstation... this makes it the emu to be considered as first.
And then if this latter is not enough accurated. it's even possible to allow both mednafen and bizhawk.

Changed times in PSN categoris. IGT times have been applied even to the RTA fields.
This mean that the entire PSN category is ruled by IGT from now on.
