I never ran it, personally, but I think the timer kept running in the menus as well and didn't stop till you started loading a level? Not totally sure on that.
For what it's worth, that's how NG+ was for Doom 2016, you had to play each level manually and it did look pretty tedious. It was a category, though, and a few people ran it!
What Spirits said, there's really no reason for an entirely separate leaderboard when you can just filter by console.
Hi, I mentioned this in another thread but I thought it warranted making its own.
IMO the OoB category should use RTA instead of IGT thus allowing loading saves. I know there is at least one known way of getting OoB that involves loading a save and this wouldn't be valid using the current rules. Many other games use RTA because of save / load glitches like this and it probably should be allowed in this category as well.
Just my 2 cents. Thoughts anyone?
100% agree with @BloodThunder here, the issue I personally have isn't segmented runs but using the IGT simply because "it's available" as someone above said.
It's 2019 not 1998, there's no reason not to use RTA to allow for save / load glitching and potentially much faster runs (like most other games do.) I get that there is a RE speedrunning community that is used to doing things a certain way, but there is a much larger speedrunning community as a whole that has been using RTA for quite some time now specifically because of things like this.
it does not work any more, you just have to start and split manually, as long as the loadless feature works that's all you need though.
You can't see the scratch very well with the settings I have there, sorry about that. Also, you want to stand up before turning around, if you turn while still crouched it can bump you out of position.
If you watch someone do it, there is a scratch on the floor near that spot. You need to have your right side touching the elevator and crouch and zoom with the pistol looking straight down so the scratch is about right in the middle of the crosshair. I made a quick video for a friend who is also learning the speedrun:
