I wrote these categories years ago and haven't really looked at them until this recent batch of submissions, so I guess I never noticed how ambiguous the rules are. I'm open to suggestions. I agree that, as the rules are currently written, you should have to play hole 9. Though if we're open to changing the rules/categories, there doesn't seem to be much point in having a category where one hole can't be aborted but the others can. Thus, I would say we could have "any%" featuring all aborts (a rather boring category, but if it's the game's any% then it is what it is) and then the existing Abortless category which requires fully playing each hole. How does that sound?
Thanks for your thoughts, but at the moment, I don't feel this is necessary. With how comparable US and JP times are, I'm not sure a split is needed. While it might be easier to get a better time with JP Bo, ultimately the "perfect" time could be achieved with either. In addition, since emulators are allowed, it's fairly easy to obtain the JP version, so I don't think the difference really gatekeeps anyone from being able to go for WR. This all being said, if a number of runners switch to JP and the top of the leaderboard becomes overwhelmingly the JP version, a change might be made in the future.

Just by watching, my hypothesis is that the bunts in the quick run go foul. In the slower run, it moves on to the next swing after the Noki grabs it. In the fast run, the ball lands fair, triggering the "Good!" message. However, it then rolls foul. This causes the play to be over, and thus, starts the next swing as soon as the "Good!" message ends. I do think this could be useful at top-level runs, as it can definitely shave 1-2 seconds off a run. Theoretically, this may be able to be applied to any swing-related missions, so this is a potentially important find. The only problem is that if the ball /lands/ foul, the swing doesn't count, so it's probably too high-risk, low-reward for runs not gunning for WR.

I would like to apply. While I may be dormant in actual running, I check speedrun.com at least once a day, and got a pretty respectable 30 back when I was an active runner. I could also be able to do other things, such as organize any possible tournaments or some large race. (we never did do that end-of-tourney race)
I would say 16. It's what I started with, and it allows you to get some easy stars along with tougher ones. If you're not good at BLJ's, though, start with 70.

Just wanted to say, I got a PB a few days ago, and it hasn't yet been updated in the seeding. By my check, I should now be 14th, between Yoshizill and Soru.
I personally don't like the idea. If you're going to do more than any%, just do Cannonless. GreenUprooter puts it the best, out it draws away from Cannonless.

No offense to Donut at all, but why doesn't he put his times on the board? He could just upload his VOD to YouTube and put it on the leaderboard, so it can be better documented. I'm not disputing about the tourney seeding, I'm just saying that I wonder why he hasn't.

This actually sounds like a great idea. A 362 of sorts is a great midway between 246 and 602.
