I'm partly to blame for the 3-fight maze route as it was what I used in 2013. The fact that no one else in the current community decided to try and test this tho is somewhat incredible.
I will at least take partial blame :P
Sub 2:20 anyone? Kappa
But did Vertical cause that much time save over RTA strats? idk
Yes, but the RNG manip in that TAS is something crazy.
So yes Vertical has potential, even so I doubt it's truly faster in RTAs if TASes
Ray 01 only is theoretically fastest and hence why the TAS uses it.
The TAS was submitted as a "Play-around" and thus not meant to be 100% optimal. If I had to guess, since Vertical has a fairly large amount of DWN and can go over walls, it worked out well for dicking around. It has way too much knockback unlike 3-way however which you can spam.
The new Any% route recently made doesn't use the Javelin anymore in favor of Ray 01+Metal Ape throughout the entire game. It's possible that Vertical is faster given we don't know what is truly the fastest route yet.
You can do testing if you want, but don't get your hopes up is all I'm saying lmao
Pumpkaboo spam anyone? Yeah but is it more of an honor system? Seems weird but whatever I like playing this game lmao Also where are Manaphy leaderboards?
Custom Robo: Battle Revolution (GCN) Any% Speedrunning Tournament!
Hey guys it's Pokehero and I think because the CR community has increased in size lately, let's have a tournament!
There are also quite a few people who have expressed interest in running this game but have not due to ¤insert reason here¤ so why not
Some things to go over first! 1) This is for fun! I have no plan of giving something to the winner, consider it bragging rights
2) The tournament will start either the week of the 29th or the week of the 22nd (of May). Sign-ups will end on May 13th
3) Emulator IS ALLOWED. Now obviously, emulator is faster than console, so the solution was if you are playing on console, whenever you do a run, I will add 90 seconds onto your final time to try and even up the competition and give no one an unfair advantage
4) This tournament will be Double Elimination! Meaning if you lose one race, it's not a big deal, you have another chance!
5) Not every run you do has to be a race. The way this will work is that each round will have a week long to compete (save maybe the final round since there will only be 1 run) and in this week, you may do your Any% run. Your run MUST BE RECORDED. And during the first 10 minutes of your run you MUST say that this is your tournament run. However, if you are able to schedule a race between you and the other contender, I'm sure Drac or I will be able to verify you did a race :P
6) If during the week you are unable to make your run for whatever reason, you will lose automatically
a) If both players cannot do their run, the win is awarded to the the player with the SLOWER PB (#Underdog)
i) If both players cannot do their run and neither of them have a PB, the winner is awarded to the player of the lower seed¤
6) The following are rules for the runs
a) Timer must start on pressing "A New Journey" Timing ends on fadeout after winning the Rahu III fight
b) Bathroom Skip is allowed (why wouldn't it be). If you fail Bathroom Skip, continue the run as normal
c) The run must be off a clean file, not a NG+ run!
d) You may visit the Parts Generator as many times as you need
e) While not having the memory card in is faster, it is not required
7) For players who do not have a PB, feel free to use my route: http://pastebin.com/eLR48nmn
The sign up form can be found here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/12E2u_nnRczTHOwBwU4uvhfZewPAs04Gri5bKdk7PZAs The bracket for the tournament can be found here: http://challonge.com/cr_any NOTE: Final Dates TBD for rounds past round 1
I hope you all can join!
¤An explanation of seeds: In sports, seeds are basically a ranking. The best team will have the highest seed and the worst team will have the lowest seed. You ideally want the highest seed because that way, if there are not a tournament multiple (4, 8, or 16) amount of people who submit, the people with the higher seeds will not have to run in the first round, effectively giving them a "by week" and thus increasing their chances of winning the tournament. This example of a by week can be seen here: http://imgur.com/2lqutaW (Where players 1, 2, and 3, have a by week) 1) If you do not have a PB, you will be given the lowest seed a) If more then one person signs up who does not have a PB, seeds will be assigned randomly to those without a PB
Any questions can be PM'd to me on Twitch @ twitch.tv/thepokehero49 or just by replying to this post
Look at the beginning, the timer starts early. This was because of the stream delay from restreaming. RDA also retimed his run and it was a 2:27:34
The run was done in a marathon and does have proof, but the marathon did not highlight it until today, he should add the video to his time today
http://www.pbtracker.net/game/pokemon-stadium?c=gym-leader-castle-gb-pokemon To my knowledge, these are the only leaderboards that currently exist for transfers, although I believe actual Transfers WR is 1:19:xx. I think having a transfers category on speedrun.com would be cool, so I second this
"All Colosseums Round 1" is so misleading. In order to beat Mysterial in Round 1, beating Gateway Colosseum is not required. In the route we don't beat Gateway because we don't have to so why would we. It really is just "Any%" or if you wanna be specific "Any% Round 1" but its not "All Colosseums". Obviously All Colosseums could become its own category, but in no way is it the Any% style runs on the leaderboards.
It'd be great if we could change the category name to Any% or Any% Round 1. Thank you!
Complete Round 1 World Record is 6 hours 32 minutes, but since you would be using transfers I'd imagine that would be about an hour shorter. However, it seems kinda arbitrary to basically do a Complete Round 1 run then just beat Prime using a Pikachu Estimated (with good transfers) around 7-ish hours.
Sounds cool man. After all, who needs more button mashing in this run
I think we should figure out an average time for post Rahu III for consistency sakes, but it really is just a bunch of mashing. We can end on last input or after last meaningful input in the case of Rahu III so either seems acceptable
Where the full-game runs at tho
Like Grand Prix with each difficulty? I'd run it
Neither Gonquai or me really have any interest in running this game, so if you do a run, we'll see how it all works. But sounds good
