So I know that Gran Turismo isn't perfect at managing track limits, but I feel as though we have to use our own discretion on instances where the game isn't going to.
I don't know how everyone else feels about track limits but I feel like at the least, there should be an attempt to follow them. I'm all for uploading a time where the wheels just marginally cut the white lines and don't get flagged cause it's a close call. It’s fine to have a margin of error for those using a controller which isn’t as sensitive as a wheel. But I'm not overly fond of barreling through the off-road, we have designated dirt tracks for that.
I think we have to decide if track limits are going to matter on the leaderboards (especially the single lap runs) because I know a lot of people would be dissuaded from competing when they see significant track cuts. I don't want to impose all the efforts on the moderators, of having to make separate leader boards that allow for huge cuts, but I very passionately feel that track limits should be followed as if this was real life. After all Gran Turismo is "The Real Driving Simulator" and not Mario Kart.
I personally believe that the runs on the leaderboard should have a refined and professional look and feel as if it were a taken from an actual race or qualifying video, as the simulators were designed with the intention that we follow the track limits the same way the real life drivers would.
I just wanted to put this out there because I think it wouldn't hurt to all be on the same page for track limits when it comes to the instances where the game fails to invalidate laps for cutting through grass or runoffs to gain a lasting advantage.
