True. Usually mods are not allowed because it should be run the way it is, even if it has annoying rng.

Personally I think using this mod would be fine. But I think we should wait a few days to give other runners an opportunity to weigh in on this discussion.

There used to be a thread about this but I don't know if the previous mod deleted it or something like that.

I think the consensus was that it is pretty random what the weather is like at the end of the run. Like, there is a certain randomness to the weather and sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. That's how it was for me anyways.

There is nothing you can do about it since everything would be against the game/category rules we decided on at some point. For example, waiting some time after the intro cut scene and starting the timer late, or using external tools/mods.

One thing you could try is: If you think you get the 'snowstorm' a lot of times, create a new save file that you use for your runs to create a new 'seed' for the weather. I'm not sure if this works though.

The train taking longer in curves seems like a good reason, I agree.

Heya. I just wanted to ask why some arbitrary timing is used for quick runs, even though there is an in-game timer. Wouldn't using that make more sense since it's probably more consistant?

I know it's a pain, but wouldn't it make sense to talk this through? Instead of now just making changes that, in my opinion, don't make any sense; pc and console are basically identical and there is no reason to separate the leaderboards.

Personally, I think instead of having the category as the main "folders", you could put the platforms there (which would be: Console/ PC, GBA, DS, PSP) and then you could just add whatever category makes sense for the single platforms (i.e. the difficulty settings + all secret eggs for Console/ PC; or just any% for GBA).

I don't know exactly if it would be possible to do it like that since I haven't moderated a leaderboard so far, but I hope we find a good solution.

As far as I can tell all platforms are very different, except console and pc which are basically the same. I think there is no need for a completely separate leaderboard, but you could adjust the categories since the other games don't have a difficulty setting as far as I can tell. Maybe just put any% for everything except pc/ console.

Also, in my opinion if you are that busy and unable to catch up on all your notifications you should consider adding another somewhat active mod to this leaderboard since the other too seem to be very inactive.

@Liv I really hate Twitter as a platform but I can also try and reach them there (edit: it seems like the supermod @RPG_GamingThief can't be contacted via twitter dm and I'm not gonna publicly tweet about something like that). And sorry but the categories are not fine. DS needs its own new category, and for GBA (I don't know DS and PSP very well) the categories easy/ normal / hard don't make any sense since there is only one difficulty. I agree that all can somehow be done in one leaderboard but it sill needs to be revamped.

Hi. I'd like to request a change to the Eragon (https://www.speedrun.com/Eragon#Normal) leaderboards. One of the two mods hasn't been online in 4 years, and the other one for 2 months. The super mod is very active but just seems to ignore the leaderboard completely. There was a forum mod requesting to change the leaderboard 4 months(!) ago, but has yet to be answered. I tried contacting them via Twitch, didn't get an answer tho (and there's no discord ID linked). As an information, the leaderboards really need to be changed since the leaderboards treats all platforms of the game as the same, but there are actually 4 (or even 5 counting mobile) versions of the game that are very different, so the leaderboards really need a revamp.

I get that there has basically been 0 traffic on those leaderboards so far, but it would still be cool to change it to be more open to potential new submissions. Cheers.

I don't wanna be a douche but some things on this leaderboard really need to change. What I would suggest ist treating console/ pc, DS, GBA, and PSP (and mobile I guess...?) each as different games and separating those leaderboards completely because those versions are all completely different.

As a reference I suggest a look at Harry Potter games where Gameboy versions are separated from the pc/ console version. Thx.

GBA probably needs to be separated from the rest somehow.

I feel like it would make sense to delete all the "PC" TH runs from before we standardised them. Since all these times have been beaten they are obsolete anyways and only confuse when you look at the IL runs. (Of course, don't delete any of the "Lone wolf" and "squad enabled" and "co-op" runs)

ALSO: Can a mod fix the TH Leaderboards, please? There have been some co-op entries that are shown as the wr on the overview, but when looking at a specific map leaderboard seem not to exist because they are hidden behind the filter. TH: Kill House, for example.

Could someone make the view of single/ co-op more prominent (like creating different tabs), instead of hiding the co-op runs in the filters? And then maybe add co-op and single specific wrs to the overview? everything is super confusing, would be nice if somebody did something about it.

That would be what we did for the last few days. I see the reasoning behind it, but I also think that lone wolf would be better, just because it shows the mechanical skills of the player better. Although using the team correctly also takes some skill.... I would still prefer lone wolf I guess

Yeah I think casual is best for the difficulty setting.

I would say lowest or medium density at most. Personally I would prefer lowest, but medium would be fine too.

(And I will probably watch it tomorrow. I am too tired today to do anything productive)

I also thought about this recently. I did casual and lone wolf off. Just because it is somewhat the standard setting and there were no rules.

But i think lone wolf off would be more interesting and would display the skill of the player a bit better. As for difficulty setting, if lone wolf off, I wouldn't say above medium. Or maybe different categories for the difficulty settings?
