You hold up, then you transition from holding up to tapping down

Then as you've seen already after a few spins he has a cool down period where stars appear around his head, because he's dizzy, and you have to wait for a bit until you can use the spin again

The small cabins are where the counselors can spawn at the start of the game, and where they can stay while you are doing actual gameplay with whichever counselor you've selected. There are 10 small cabins. A counselor you are using can enter and search a big cabin, but cannot stay in them

The only version I see on GOG is the MSX version. This board is for the NES version. Unless dunnius wants to answer that here, I would post this over at the MSX board

I discovered that you can skip most of the quiz questions before the final boss battle. To do this, you must enter the final door where the questions start with only one life (will show in game as "x1"). Then when the questions start, you can just press A on the first two questions (They'll be on option 1), and since these answers are wrong, it'll take you to the continue screen. Once you continue, you'll start at the final boss battle.

If you enter the door with two or more lives it will not work, and as long as you have two or more lives you'll have to answer all the questions with the correct answers in order to proceed. Be careful with the treasure chest right outside the final door as it usually drops an extra life.

"Real Timing (RTA) begins on press start, and ends when the final attack hits Jason. IGT (SDA timing) begins upon pressing start, and the final cutscene beginning to play."

^I read this as time starts as soon as you press start (Mask screen), others probably read the same thing. It probably doesn't change anything that much since the presses are so immediate, but the wording should probably be changed just to avoid confusion

Hi, I would like to mod the game P.O.W.: Prisoners of War (NES) https://www.speedrun.com/p.o.w._prisoners_of_war#Any

There was only one mod and recently they deleted their account. The game currently has no mods.

My run of the game ()

Thanks

Something I wanted to point out me and Apollo noticed when we were running the game. You keep the health and upgrades that you get in the game unless you turn the console off, then on. Not sure if it affects anything else in the game.

So maybe "Start from power on" should be part of the rules. This is so for the rules in Sword Master.

This is Stage 1 with just a reset https://i.ibb.co/sqMgczg/Castle-Of-Dragon-Heatlh-Without-Power-On.png

This is Stage 1 with powering off then on https://i.ibb.co/qnkT5Y8/Castle-Of-Dragon-Heatlh-With-Power-On.png

If it's that easy to do that and it would not be possible to tell it was a hack, then I would say it should be separate from runs on actual cart

United StatesChimp5 years ago

What about just requiring reseting the console each time as you would with an actual cart of the game?

I would not feel bad about things like the alarm not going off, Jason getting away, etc, that's just part of this run. Sometimes Laura will be in the cabin in the 1st cycle instead of Crissy, nothing can be done to know in advance.

As far as I know there is no tutorial for this game.

Jason getting away in 2nd cycle is the main way I've lost runs. Once I fully learned the route, I focused on practicing the Jason fights, particularly the timing of the shots (You have to land enough shots on him, otherwise he will get away). I would focus on practicing the Jason fights on the 2nd and 3rd cycle so that when you get the right seed, and good RNG, you're ready to finish him.

Hi all, if mods will permit me I have to respond to @Adamo, for he made several claims about me there. Don't worry, no drama/negativity here :)

I saw a notification right before bed last night that Adamo submitted a run, but couldn't even look at it bcus I had to sleep, had work/school today. Just now I was made aware of this thread from a Twitch message from this site's moderator FurryWulfz. It hasn't even been 24 hours since I got the notification of the run on my end. I see now there's a forum post, but last night it was not showing me that, just that there was a run which i planned to verify this weekend when i have actual time. Others use my computer and it stays on all day, it doesn't mean it's me at sr.com all the time.

@Adamo, you're saying things like "I have tried to contact @Chimp on all forms of communication and I am positive that he has viewed my forum post for the game". This is 100% false. No messages from you on my Twitch, forum posts are not going to be replied to instantly if the mod hasn't seen them. "Positive" I saw your forum post for the game? Also incorrect, and I would never make "positive" claims such as these about someone based on negative assumptions.

"he is simply ignoring/delaying my attempts at communication so that he can continue to be first place in a game that only he has submitted a run for" Again, this is false.

You say "It seems unfair that he can do this", Yet it's fair for you to smear me and make negative assumptions about me? That is biased and highly irrational. Unlike some runners I don't mind submitting initial runs even if they're terrible, and then progress from there slowly, since like most I have other obligations. For me doing it this way helps me keep working at the game. The first run I ever did for Friday the 13th (NES) was not very good at all, and now thru the course of a year just 6 days ago i got the WR for the game, and it's by no means an easy free WR. It's not even labeled as a WR anywhere, nor will it ever be, yet you claim I just want WRs. The work that everybody put in the game is what matters to me, not the titles.

I could go on with the many things that are false

For the mods here, any advice on what should I do in this situation? Because I really have no interest in ever dealing with someone who has no problem lying just to get their way, showing impatience (Posting here instead of just waiting for a bit), being selective on the "investigation" done on my profile just to get his way, etc when just being respectful would have been sufficient.

On the forum post for the game he says he wants to be mod so he can verify his own runs, but generally the point is to submit and wait for the other mod to verify.
