How to get started running Sparkour
Atualizado 6 years ago por BonfireCow

This guide will be basic runner's starter kit on some major glitches runners use, along with some general tips.

This will be based on my 3rd place run, which isn't all-encompassing and needs improvement, but the tips I give are a great starting point for you to understand how the game works and beat your own personal records.

--General Tips and Tricks -Your combo number (seen here: https://i.imgur.com/sLi6fUc.png) gives you a slight boost of speed the higher it is. The highest combo is "4!!!" -Jumping off walls and hitting vaults increases your combo number -Using items increases your combo number -Use items to keep your combo lasting longer between tricks -Jumping just as you touch a ramp will have you 'float' across the ramp at the same speed you were before you hit the ramp, allowing you to speed over some ramps. This is called "Jump Floating" -Getting the 'Trap' item is basically a run-ending event unless you get it on the last lap. This item places a permanent slow-down on the map that you need to avoid for the next laps, it's usually a good idea to restart the run if you're not confident about being able to get around it.

--Step 1: The falling death skip (or the 'Drop Tactic') (Obviously with a name like this, you can expect not to use this if you're running Deathless)

The falling death skip is probably the simplest trick in the entire run, it requires running of the edge of the path and dying. Where you end up when you respawn is past an entire (small) area. This saves you about 10 seconds in the run.

-How does it work? The falling death skip has your actor (player character) move into range of a checkpoint you shouldn't even be close to. You fall, hit the checkpoint trigger and instantly respawn to the platform ahead of you.

-How do I do it? At the start of the race, head this way https://i.imgur.com/jjR5ZBu.png After that, you will see this ramp leading to an alternate path https://i.imgur.com/xCyekba.png Then, after going up the ramp, instead of continuing down the path, take a sharp left and fall off the edge (jumping works too, but you respawn a second later, so it's better to fall to save the most time)

-Tips and tricks -If you're skillful enough, you can jump off just before the ramp or even halfway on the ramp to hit the checkpoint faster, but this is risky and doesn't work all the time. -Jump Floating as soon as you respawn can save you a lot of time regaining speed.

--Step 2: The tale of the purple block and the difficult ramp

This step of the run requires you to take a difficult (if you're going fast) turn up a thin ramp to a rooftop kind of area to skip an area. It's one of the more trivial parts of the run once you get it down, but an important one nonetheless

-How does it work? You make your way up a ramp that normally looks like it's there for looks, and then run across a rooftop down to a small turn.

-How do I do it? Once you go under the orange block and up the next ramp, you will see this: https://i.imgur.com/h4xj6wG.png , You want to go over the purple block and make a sharp left. Then, you head up the white ramp/pillar. https://i.imgur.com/GJRnP8D.png Next, continue up the ramp and jump down into the next area.

-Tips and tricks -Grab the item before the ramp to give yourself the extra boost.

--Step 3: The many wall jumps -Part 1-

This step is fairly easy, but one of the most satisfying if you pull it off correctly. It requires you to wall jump inside the tunnel, on the orange wall, then fall down and land in the centre of two opposing walls and continue on to part 2.

-How do I do it?

Firstly, as soon as you enter the tunnel, jump onto the wall to the right (https://i.imgur.com/0haxip7.png) and then jump off it, hitting the orange wall. Jump off this too. After making the turn, you can make an optional wallrun here: https://i.imgur.com/yhGc5ns.png , doing the same thing. Then make the wallrun and fall down to here and jump either way: https://i.imgur.com/6X3fk06.png Once you've hit this, try and walljump as many times as safely possible to rack up that combo number.

-Tips and tricks -When falling down to hit the final wallrun in part 1, come at the floating walls on an angle to minimise the risk of falling and respawning behind. this can slow you down a very tiny bit but can be worth it in the end because you have a higher chance of hitting the sweet spot on the wall to get the maximum combo number.

--Step 4: The many wall jumps -Part 2-

Here's the fun part, this is where you gain the most speed in the run, and hit the most satisfying jumps. Be prepared for funness.

-How do I do it? Coming off those white walls lands you on either a few cheeky wall jumps, or on an item. Either way, when landing on the orange walls, you wanna first hit the one on the right: https://i.imgur.com/g4OTI8v.png This allows you to jump off in the direction of the next wall jump. Which is this: https://i.imgur.com/T0p9Sm5.png You can hit this in the same jump as the one you took to get there, but quickly jumping to hit the wall works exactly the same. Next, hit these walls in order (1, 2): https://i.imgur.com/QLCwb0h.png Again, hit the next walls in order (1, 2, 3): https://i.imgur.com/f5yBluZ.png You may miss any of these, it happens. If you do, be sure to grab an item to keep your combo up.

-Tips and tricks -It's easy to fail any of these wall runs, so be sure to keep your space-bar finger trigger happy to recover. -If you're too far away from jump 2 or 3, it's okay to abandon them in favour of an item to keep the combo up.

--Step 5: Finishing the lap

Pretty self explanatory, it's time to finish the lap. here you do a few sneaky jumps to keep your combo from the last step up, and then make a shortcut along a roof.

-How do I do it? It's good to hit these walls as you approach them: https://i.imgur.com/5ZKD7hU.png to keep your combo up. Hope you're lucky, because next you've got to instantly use the item you pick up here: https://i.imgur.com/ArV2sRX.png Then, hit these walls in succession: https://i.imgur.com/IVHOFYI.png Once that's done, make the jump across here: https://i.imgur.com/oeypUBt.png and continue to the falling death skip. Don't worry, you will still pass the lap.

--Conclusion

here's all you need to start running Sparkour! As your skills improve, you'll be able to swap some things out with more advanced manoeuvres to beat your own personal times and claim that coveted WR.

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer any and all.
