In my 43:14 any% run, I kept getting softlocked in Mr. Nopos' house after ending the cutscene. Then, in my 33:30 any% run, I was able to avoid the softlock by spamming buttons. After the run, I decided to analyze a way to avoid the softlock, and here's my 100% consistent softlock prevention tech.
To avoid the softlock, first make sure that you begin the cutscene while in midair. When reaching the top of the stairs you will be in the air for a short time, so start the cutscene during that time. Immediately after clearing all of Mr. Nopos' dialogue, spam the menu buttons, and then exit out of the menu. This should work with 100% success if performed correctly.
Effective immediately, all runs must be done solely on 60FPS. Running the game at an FPS higher than 60 will cause battles and cutscenes to play faster, potentially causing an unfair advantage for some runners.
