General Rule Philosophy

All site rules (maingame/category-specific) are created through two principles: **fairness** and **stability**.

**Fairness** refers to concurrent runners/teams having a level playing field.

**Stability** refers to current and future runners/teams having a level playing field with each other. While we cannot predict whether or not the Devs will patch something, based on past evidence, if it is obvious something will be patched or is being patched, you can assume it is not allowed in submitted runs.

As mods, it is our responsibility to uphold these principles as best we can in order to ensure that the competition of speedrunning is kept as fair and impartial as possible. While we will do the best we can to foresee what the Devs may change, in the event that an unexpected patch fundamentally changes the speedrunning landscape, a category split **(If it is not currently under the seasonal split)** will be used as a last resort to resolve the matter and keep competition going.

The person holding the torch in either Genesis, Starstone, or Tempest dungeons will not be allowed to use the stance bug/weapon abilities bug while wielding the torch. As of 4/30/24, Patch 5.0.1: All videos of these dungeons now require a POV of the person holding the torch until further notice.
