My speedrun techniques and analysis

My 47:01 Utopia Ending speedrun can be HIGHLY optimized. In fact, I believe that a sub 40m is "easily" achievable.



# What to keep into consideration

- Mashing BOTH the space bar and the left-click of the mouse highly increases the speed at which you can go through dialogs
- You want to have as little aid as possible during the election campaign, since sending each of them in a mission is wasted time and their return animation to the house cannot be skipped, and it is repeated at every passage of cycle, even if you didn't send them on a mission
- Decline help to as much people as possible, in order to reduce the amount of people who will testify to your favor (or against you) during the final phase of the elections
- I believe that it is best not to click on the letter that sends you to the false final chapter, as it is pretty time-wasting.
- In the election phase, sleeping and making cards make 1 cycle pass, while inviting someone makes 2 cycle pass. I believe that all people (except your former mentor) can be dealt with in less time than making 2 cards or sleeping twice, but I didn't do a deep analysis. Also, I believe that sleeping once is faster than making one card, but if you need to skip many cycles, making making cards one after the other is the fastest choice. For this reason, I tried to send the helping characters on an errand to gather resources as much as possible.
- I believe that looking for "Knowledge" is the best thing, as the "(KNOWLEDGE)" options can make certain interactions end faster.



# What can be improved

- I didn't notice any substantial difference in the other choices at the beginning of the game, but I might be wrong about it.
- The election phase is the part in which the most time can be saved by analysing exactly how much time each character can be dealt with and therefore coming up with the fastest possible way to end all the cycles. As long as you divine your own victory in the elections, you only care about finishing the cycles as fast as possible.
- A lot of time can be saved by memorizing the options order, as I didn't know it and had to read the options and select the one I believed to be faster each time I was presented with a choice.
- Making the helping characters stay away as much as possible in the election phase is also a good strategy, as they will return less often with their uskippable animation.
- It is possible that only making cards fast might be the best way to deal with the election phase, but there might be a lack of resources to do so. So, as I mentioned, a well-thought plan for this part of the game would save A LOT of time.
