After the boyfriend is kidnapped, as you enter the loading zone for the hub, open the journal during the screen freeze as the hub loads. This will cause the hub to load, but all physics objects in the hub will begin to fall, including NPCs. Since the Moth doesn't have any collision, he will fall into the void. Keep the journal open for 3-5 seconds, and the Moth should be off-screen enough for you to swing past without needing to talk to him.

This saves ~5-7 seconds, depending on how long you keep the journal open. If you swing into the hub loading zone with enough speed, you can fling your character down to the bottom of the hub tree while you have the journal open, saving even more time.
