I've heard there's issues getting the game to show up in OBS if you're on fullscreen. Most people play in windowed mode, then window capture works fine.

If you have a monitor with a huge resolution and you find the windowed mode unplayable, consider lowering your resolution so the game screen's size becomes tolerable.

There's only like 5 people who have run the game on console. I think the console versions should have their own board, you have no chance competing against PC players because controller is just much slower to play with. Also the physics are probably different too?

If we're competing about lowest X, it's not a speedrun at that point unless you define a threshold to go under or something. Probably best to keep low% challenges separate from speedruns, I can't see them working as speedrun categories.

Playing on fullscreen? Most (almost all) people run on windowed mode. I don’t know if it’s possible to get Livesplit to show on top of the fullscreen game.

It has been discussed on discord as a possibility, but I think there isn't much interest for running those.

Nah, I'm probably able to get a better time with a couple attempts, so I didn't bother to upload this one.

Actually, disabling 3D acceleration just disables the zoom effect. Without it, the game still slows down before you hit the last orange.

What makes the slow down go faster, is just left click. Click it when the slowdown starts before hitting the last orange, and after you hit it. I just click it like 10 times to makes sure.

Now that we're sharing tips, here's another: In Adventure Mode (not NG+), click the "Next level" button with BOTH mouse buttons. That makes the game skip the next dialog box. That's a pretty new thing PoetryStud found out, I haven't actually used it in runs yet.

I’m not a mod, but I presume you can run on any platform you want. Just post a video of your run on the forum, and mods can add the platform for you.

If you want to do a run, just do it, then post a link to your run here. I'm sure the platform can be added then.

Almost all speedruns are ”non-stop”, including this game. So no, you can’t stop the timer. If you do, moderator will just retime the run from beginning to end.

Games that use in-game time are an exception. For example in Celeste you can stop between levels.

Yep, that would have been useful. So I guess stuff like "scott" is a cheat code, and thus not allowed by default. Thanks for linking that!

I also don't know any games where cheat codes are allowed, but that's not the point. The point is that games that have cheat codes, at least many of them, have it in the rules. That's because any% by default should allow everything (that is in-game).

Using 3rd party stuff like gameshark is not comparable to using things that developers put in-game, like cheat codes. Emulators are a whole other topic, but I looked into some games that people run with emulators and they have very clear rules about what is allowed. For example, savestates are mentioned in the SMB1 rules.

Edit: Also, the game doesn't even say anything about cheating when you type in the codes. It just says "rightclick speedup activated". So, for all we know, they are just hidden options, not cheats :D

I checked some games with cheat codes and many of them had it in the rules, including GTA V, Spyro Reignited, RDR2, Contra and The Sims 4. Doesn't "Any%" usually mean completing the game by any means? So, everything not mentioned in the rules should be fair game in my opinion. A new player should be able to read the rules and not have to guess if some things are banned or not. Why not just add a sentence to the game rules?

Actually, it's because I play with 3D acceleration off in the settings. Didn't even realize it disables the zoom effect! If you try it yourself, remember that you have to restart the game for the setting to take effect.

We talked about this on discord a few months ago, I thought it should be clarified in the rules that no cheat codes are allowed. Some other people thought that it shouldn’t be necessary, as you said. I still think it should be in the rules, as clearly it’s not obvious to everyone.

You said the top run used a cheat code, that would be me? I haven’t used any cheat codes in my runs, as far as I know. I just press right click during fever. Which run are you talking about?

Peggle Deluxe has a NG+ category, so why not add the category to Nights, too? I just did a run:
