Since I'm providing the gaming PC for the event, I'll also help coordinate them. PC games have notoriously bad setups at marathons, so I'm making a thread to help clarify the process.
Desktop Specs:
The plan is to have everything setup by 8am on the 19th so we can start testing runs, with priority to the starting runs (dark souls, max payne 2, etc.)
Obviously we want to get your games set well before your run so you have time to test stuff out. The best method for installing your game would be to bring it on a USB flash drive. You can also install it via steam, although that takes longer and might not be as reliable. Feel free to bring your own keyboards, mice, and whatever else.
From the schedule, it looks like there are a total of 22 PC games. AFAIK from the schedule, these are all of the PC games:
dark souls 1 max payne 2 quake cave story devil may cry 3 perfect stride kero blaster caster vtmb dark souls 3 freedom planet 1001 spikes true crime: streets of l.a. octodad: dadliest catch towerfall ascension axiom verge dustforce dx doom 2 grand theft auto: ballad of gay tony jumpjet rex flywrench izbot
If I missed your PC game that's cool just post here. I also already have some of these games installed (like dark souls 1, cave story, kero blaster, quake, etc.) so feel free to reinstall or tweak whatever to make the game run as you need.
If you are able to bring your own rig, that would also be great.

This marathon is just for fun, it will not be taking donations to benefit any charity.
19:10 1001 Spikes all skulls SkeletonBill
this run is by licensetobill not skeleton bill
i can volunteer some time to either position
my guess is the color list
looks like i'll be bringing my desktop as the and anime computer for the stream. i'm unsure if anyone else has stepped up, but it would be nice to have a backup in the event that i (and my desktop) cannot attend (however unlikely)
it's an i7 3770k CPU, 16gb RAM, x2 760 GTX ~SLI, 250gb SSD & 1tb HDD running win7 64bit. i have a 23" monitor and a smaller like 13" LCD TV. i can bring an older monitor with me for the streaming PC but it's VGA only and i'm unsure if i still have the DVI converter
i'll coordinate the PC games being played on it, so contact me if you have special requirements beyond installing the game
i think your best cheapskate options are:
- get into a room w/ 4+ people to offset the price even more, rotate beds or sleep on the floor
- ask to borrow a bed from somebody when they and their roommates aren't using it
- find a separate hotel nearby that is cheaper
- sleep in your car
i doubt the hotel staff will be keen on the idea of people sleeping in the stream room or other hotel areas, though you can probably catch a quick nap here and there
Could you expand upon what you mean by bringing charity engagement to the next level?
i like my times don't change them thanks (:
Steam keys don't expire right? If so, just keep it until the event.
To quote the rules on this subject:
Runner(s) are promoted to NASA Staff during their runs -if a runner wants you off the stream during their run, then you are not allowed on stream -if a runner wants you to stop doing something, stop doing it -runners can ban people from the stream (but runner bans are only active til their run is over)
So long as the runner approves then feel free to coordinate with them for commentary. Nothing needs to be in any sort of official sense beyond that.
I'm sure a PC/NES/whatever will be available for the stream, but for practice purposes you should bring your own stuff.
I'm surprised at the lack of the number of judgements for each game. Most didn't seem to make it over 10 judgements and yet there were over 20 judges, all whom asked to be a judge.
It's annoying to have to load so many subforums every time I want to access these forums, especially with them growing and more marathon subforms being added. There is a "show empty forums" option, but no "hide all forums" option for that section. I'm sure I'm not the only one who notices how long it takes to load these forums because of how many are shown. I imagine it's even worse for those on less powerful devices.
I've been told that you can hide most of them if you follow a game, but I don't wish to follow any of them - other than to make 99% of them hidden by default.
About time to start coordinating travel to the event. I'll list a few details about the hotel and my own travel plans.

AFAIK I'll be carpooling with licensetobill from NY state (Buffalo area). I think we could have room for two more?
i didn't post about it but i can help with certain areas of tech as well. i'll help with anything really
