an xbox 360 controller should just plug into the PC. i use a wii guitar so i need a special usb adapter, but you shouldn't need that. just map the frets to left up down right (in that order), and then maybe orange to the action button - if you're a hybrid you'd probably be menuing/moving on a keyboard or regular controller anyway
