I guess you're right, it's same as skipping the naked brother at prison, not strickly a glitch, but it skips something that only happens if you don't do the skip. So 3 of the runs are disqualified then, Romeo's, yours and Coffee's. Added it to rules.

I don't know about a trial. Obviously I, as a super mod, can whenever demote any normal mods, if they are not doing their job right.

Yeah I've been doing the modding mostly. Albinohat essentially retired due to personal reasons (very good ones). Yumma has verified some runs, but he doesn't seem too interested to be mod since quitting the game. I'm all for adding more mods, if someone is motivated and can do the job.

Well technically it isn't glitch, but it might be oversight on the developers behalf, and not something they intended to be abused by quitting and loading, same for the one in sewers. What do you think, should it be allowed?

The leaderboards have an option on the top left corner to separate platforms, by default all platforms is selected. All the records are seperate, just shown on the same lb, to not have ton of leaderboards, most of which would have 0-2 runs. So yes I consider my ps4 record world record, even if here it on default isn't shown as such.

As for no OoB, I don't think the rare instance where you see through wall is same as actually clipping through it. The only reason for instance on courtyard you see through, is because your hitbox is shrunk to very small size due to the glitch. You are still basically just hugging the wall. The one I did in the start of sewers is basically same, except I also crouch while doing the glitch, which allows you to run through the hole as long as you are hugging the wall of the hole. The camera and the body of Miles, which doesn't actually interact with the environment in any way unlike the hitbox, are not affected by the shrinking, so those do actually go through a wall, which makes it confusing for sure.

As for glitchless, you haven't been around as long as I have, but we used to have that, and it caused unnecessary arguments over what is considered glitches and what isn't. The no OoB was chosen to replace it to allow everything that was on that run, plus any other skip that doesn't require going out of bounds. You are free to run with what ever rules you want.

Well segmented run refers to actually doing single segments over and over until you get a good run, then moving to the next one, not how you record the video.

But streaming works fine as well, so do what ever works for you best.

You can use the record function, it's just a bit tricky. You need to press the share button just before the run. This ensures that the recording starts at the right time. Not sure if it has been fixed, but in the past if you didn't do this you might not have the actual last 15 minutes saved when you next time press the share button.

Then during the run choose a fitting place where to record the first part, like a cutscene or any other part where it least interrupts the play. Just make sure it's before the 15min is full. Press the share button once, then press square to make sure the video is saved and quit back to the game. Depending on the length of the run you might need to do this more than once. To make sure you don't go over 15 minutes you can do it every 10-12 minutes.

I don't see the problem with that, as long as you go instantly back to the game. I guess technically you use couple of seconds of realtime per video saved.

One thing that I realized thought, is that you shouldn't save the video on loading screens. The game will load normally while you are in the share menu, so say it takes 2s for you to get to the menu, save the video, and continue, that 2s will be cut from the loading screen in the final video.

Then just copy the files to a usb stick, and use a video editor on computer to make a video of the full run.

I added the following rules for the no OoB category from the old website;

-Runners may not pass through permanently solid objects such as walls, ceilings and floors.

-Runners may pass through objects within the boundaries of the game map which become temporarily such as doors and tall windows.

-Doorride and vault glitches are allowed when you don't clip through the wall completely (camera may see through the wall).

The last part is added since the doorride/vault skips were found fairly recently. If you understand how those works, I think it's fair to allow those skips where you only make the hitbox small and then get through some small gap like a gap between a fence and a wall on courtyard. At no point does the player hitbox go through the walls, although the camera may see through thanks to the super small hitbox.

Obviously skips where you make the map blink and actually get through the wall aren't allowed.

I'd like the input from people who run these categories, since I don't do it myself, what do you think about the rules?

This basically adds one skip in main outlast; at the courtyard, and 3 skips for whistleblower; 1 at the furnace, 1 at the recreational area and 1 after you turn off the electic fence, all of which you can see on the WB any% run. I think that's all that we know of.

Spooky mist skip in WB isn't considered OOB, so you can do that. About the glitches: everything you listed are definitely glitces except save and quit IMO, also I'd consider ledge jumps being glitches as well. You jump over a animation trigger, which definitely isn't intended. But this is the reason why glitchless is so hard to define, since everyone has their own view about what should be included and what shouldn't.

I added the no oob category for both games. Right now you have to click show misc categories to show them, but you can submit runs normally. Once there's some runs on them I'll probably take them out from the misc categories. Later I'll write some rules, can't really be bothered now because I'm on my mobile. And like I said I won't be verifying runs for couple of weeks now.

Well, there used to be glitchless category, which was later replaced by no out of bounds category, because of some disputes about what should be considered a glitch and what shouldn't.

The no OOB basically allows smaller skips, like either jumping on a ledge or the newer looking back before a ledge to skip the slow shimmy animation. In no OOB you can't go through walls or floors/ceilings, but you are allowed to do the doorclip and walk through doors as well as do the door hop on the prison block, because on that skip you just get on top of the door and climb the ledge without ever going through anything.

Would you be interested in running no OOB instead? There are some runs on the old leaderboard at http://outlastspeedruns.weebly.com/ if you want to see what's allowed in them. Some of the newer skips has to be discussed about like the new courtyard skip, technically you don't go out of bounds on that, although you do see through the wall. I could add that category back. Starting tomorrow I'll be away for 2 weeks though, so I won't be verifying any runs.

You can use video editors to retime runs to start at the same frame as well as end at the same frame. Don't know how usual that is on most games, but that's what I do on Outlast any%, although I only have timed WR runs, not gonna bother with every run.

Here's 2 skips that I failed on my run, so I'll post them here with little explanations.

This is in the prison right after the first document. Saves about 30s. I managed to do the first part on my run, but the biggest time save comes from jumping to the room with the next document. This can be tricky, since the ceiling unloads quickly, and you won't be able to jump long enough if that happens.

The first part is quite difficult as well, where you drop out of bounds on the edge to get past the gate. You need to be looking towards the cells, and slowly drop down to make sure you're close to the gate, then do some quick pause buffers and as soon as the level loads hit forward and left to get on top of the gate. Then you can either jump to the lockers or walk the edge of the wall.

From there on just do a running jump and pause quickly to let the hallway load, the unpause and try to jump immediately. Sometimes it works, other times not, haven't found 100% consistent way yet.

This one is right when you enter sewers, and vault over the beams. Saves 5-10s. You need to land on the slanted part of the floor to make your hitbox stay small. It's a bit tricky, I seem to get it maybe every other time. As soon as you land hit crouch twice, so you'll see if you succeeded or not. In case you didn't, it's better to move on since retrying takes too much time.

If you succeed, carry on on the slanted part of the floor towards the hole and once you get to the wall, you need to get to the hole without making the hitbox expand again. So hug the wall on the left side of the hole.

There's not much to see, but when you crouch and crawl on the left side of the vent, after a second or so you will drop down. You will land on an invisible platform. At this point you can stand up and run forward. After couple of steps you can drop to the left side to get to the basement floor (don't jump or you'll die).

BTW I added on the Guides (finally works) a way to add key bindings on PC for some debug tools that will help figure out the skip. Especially toggling on collision will help.

Here's another vault glitch. You vault to the wall to keep player hitbox from expanding. Then you just have to be extra careful to not go too far from the wall and make your way to the second radiator. When you get past it just look at the wall, jump up without pressing forward to make the map unload and jump left and forward to get to the staircase. You can also reach it without jumping, but since you can't see anything you need to experiment with it and find a way that works for you.

This skip saves 6s compared to old window clip strat and maybe 2-3s compared to the door jump to the staircase.
