PAL is not slower anymore for new games and some stuff in the 6th Gen, as others have mentioned. For PC and handheld, it doesn't matter at all.
But even importing NTSC isn't that expensive, depending on what games you want to run. I got an NTSC N64 pretty cheap, together with some games - the seller was even nice enough to include a European power supply so I didn't have to worry about that!
What console are you interested in?
I got a new N64 WR for Bonus Circuit! I hope I can get sub 31 until ESA.
Have you tried to find the link in the html? That's what I'm doing in cases like this. Right click -> "view page source" -> f3 to open the search bar -> type in "youtube"
I don't know if it is there if embeds don't work for you, though.
Great to see that Beetle Adventure Racing is still in. That game is a hidden gem on N64 and it would really deserve to get some attention :)
I considered submitting a "max points" run as well, but decided against it because I felt that the category would be too unreliable for a marathon.
The whole point of leaderboards is to compare yourself to other runners, while also being a helpful tool to keep track of your times. This is not the case for DKR time trial on this site: By making it "WR only", you're essentially making this an SDA page. I don't know any other community that does that.
Time trial isn't very popular for this game to begin with, but now we have an opportunity to change this! I'm sure more people would start doing time trial if they could send in times.
Thank you for the info!
I guess I'll ask if someone in that group can add that game.
I want to add Star Wars Episode I: Racer, but I don't know where to put it. You could technically make a "series" for it (Star Wars Episode I: Racer for PC/N64/DC, the completely different Gameboy version and the sequel for the PS2. Also, if you want, the Arcade). But to my knowledge, the only existing speedruns are my any% of Star Wars Episode I: Racer on N64 and dkr_paddys emulator time of the same category. So the "series" would have mostly dead games.
There seems to be a series on this site for all the Star Wars games that don't really fit anywhere (basically the series for the "other" games), so should Racer just be part of that?
As someone who ran this game on both versions, I agree with you, emu and console are basically different games here.
I'm okay with emu being used if the difference is just lag, but this is a special case, where it affects the core gameplay of speeduns. You can compare it to Donkey Kong 64, which has completely broken physics on emu.
I'm Andy (also known as Farmergrill by my viewers), I started streaming about a year ago and mostly run racing games. Those are Mario Kart 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Star Wars Episode I: Racer and of course, Beetle Adventure Racing. I'm also very interested in Gex: Enter the Gecko. While I don't run that game on any serious level, I really like to glitchhunt and TAS it, so I could call myself the expert for the game.
I hope we can have a great time here ^^
