Hey there, the most important thing to take into account is which legacy you want to run. Bright Young Thing is unique compared to the other legacies because using this legacy you can start a run with a really powerful book / lore, which makes runs using this legacy substantially quicker compared to just about anything else (except for the KillYourBoss% category). I am actually away for the next week but I could send you save files you can use for Bright Young Thing runs in about a week's time, and there is also a very good guide for Forge ascension using Bright Young Thing in our guides section already.

As for recording/splits software, I like to use StreamLabs because usually I'll stream on twitch whilst doing a run, but you can also use it to record without streaming to a website. If you don't want all the extra stuff that comes with StreamLabs then just go for OBS, which is the open source software that StreamLabs is built off of. For timers I personally keep it simple and use WSplit, which is very simple to use and setup. There are alternatives that have more features but I am not personally familiar with them.

But yeah, this game is relatively new on the leaderboards so outside of the bright young thing categories, there is a lot of room for optimisation and new strategies and there are still loads of ways this game could be done faster.

Hello to all the new people who have recently decided to speedrun this game, its been great to have so many new runs submitted!

This was originally setup a few months ago with me and a friend, Sailol, and I wasn't ever sure whether anyone would ever really want to submit anything, so its good to see all these submissions.

When we set up the categories originally, we did it rather arbitrarily, and we hadn't considered how legacies would interact with them. As such, at the time we just made a category for each possible ascension and left it at that.

The issue is that it is now very clear that the Bright Young Thing legacy is (with a little setup), very clearly the fastest run type for pretty much each ascension. Currently, when you submit a run you select the legacy you used, but all runs end up on the same leaderboard. It would be quite easy to change it so that each legacy was also its own category; that way Bright Young Thing runs and Aspirant runs wouldn't be on the same leaderboard. That being said, I wanted to get some feedback on it before I changed anything.

So the two questions are this: Question 1; Should legacies be split up so that they count as separate categories? This would mean that when you click on a leaderboard, you would then select which legacy you want to view from a list, and each legacy would effectively be its own sub-category within each category.

Question 2; If each legacy is made a sub-category, which legacy should be considered the default? Because of the way this website is setup; one legacy would have to be the 'default legacy', this would be the legacy that shows up first when you click on each category, with every other legacy having to be navigated to. There are two natural candidates for this; either Aspirant (as the default legacy you start a new game with) or Bright Young Thing (the current fastest legacy).

Before I make any changes, I'd like some feedback on this; so please post your preferred options in this thread.
