I really wish that that was a thing before I became mod as it would've definitely look nicer, I would have to be really careful as I can't merge categories together and some moderators of other games have tried doing stuff similar to that and in turn losing all the runs for other categories, so for me to do that I'll have to save every run and all that and resubmit everything, I'm gonna give it a test run with the glitchless categories since those only have like 3 runs combined and I'll have a backup of the youtube videos anyways, but yeah it would be nice, will just take some time to set everything up again while having the runs saved in case something goes wrong
Added it with subcategories for NWNM, glitches allowed, and glitchless
This was actually posted about in another forum and kirkq is gonna deal with it
I'm wondering, would you guys like to have a segmented category where you put together your best times into one run?
You'll wanna contact the mod that rejected it, was there a reason for it being rejected like where it said rejected? Because it can't be left blank, I just watched some of your run and the only thing I can thing of of why it was rejected was because of the screen freezes, but still would be best to contact the mod
Ahh I'm sorry. And they only require sound on both Speedrun categories, the rest sound isn't necessary
Actually dcmallo how much time does it require for you to pause and switch controls?
It basically pertains to pausing and music being played during a run, for the NWNM Speedrun and Speedrun categories there is no music to be played other than in-game music if you have that on, this is due to the chance of someone splicing their run since RTA is used for those two categories, in regards to pausing, the time it takes during being paused is added onto the run, this applies to all the in-game time categories, the reason for having a penalty for pausing is because I don't want it to get out of hand or anything like that, it's not in the spirit of running the game
Also- rules for certain categories have been updated, so please check them just in case before submitting a run
Update 3/7/2017: Rule added for Segmented Any%, must be done on completed save file.
Update 3/20/2017: Tool assisted runs are not allowed from this point on.
• Got an issue with the way this goes page is run? • Suggestions for clarity in the records? • Catch someone getting verified even though they timed wrong or broke the rules?
Let me know in this thread! Thanks :D
Any updates to rules or anything at all for the game will also be displayed in this thread And the guide will be updated soon™ for any newcomers
Actually you can pause if you like to change keys, you'll just be penalized for the time it takes for you to do so, so if you're quick with it it shouldn't matter too much regarding time, I'll be typing up a rule set regarding certain things soon and I'll have pausing as a part of that
@Corbeilledu93 http://www.speedrun.com/cod/thread/qna3b it might be quicker if you ask here
Thank you for pointing that out, verified it when I literally just woke up for work lol
I think it would depend on the game/run, say like you're running smash bros for 3DS doing Classic or something where the selections are at the bottom screen, you would probably need to show that you're selecting the right option for the specific run, but it would probably be better to ask in whatever game you're going to run in their forums, also homebrew is very easy if you follow the instructions step by step and don't skip anything, very low risk and high reward as you'll be able to download a plug-in that allows for wireless video capture, but you have to be on 11.2 or lower as there is no current way to acquire homebrew on 11.3
What I do personally since my DS has homebrew is I can record wirelessly through a program, although you'd need a new3DS for that, there's an emulator though for PC called desmume, I'm not too sure how well it runs all the games but it does work, for handheld depending on the length of the games you could always set up your phone or whatever you have to be a set distance from your DS and record like that, otherwise you'd need a capture card for the DS
I wouldn't consider it cheating as long as it's not pressing the button for you, but pausing during a run would be generally frowned upon and I wouldn't recommend doing that since in game time is used for this game, if you can change control schemes without pausing then go for it, you can pause for speedrun and NWNM speedrun categories since those are real time instead of in game
Actually may I mod Ghosts as well? That's on my run list after Blops 3 and 1 and would be good to be able to submit and verify if when I get to that game no one else is moderating it
About a week or so, they usually have a lot to go through
Well what I do at least is that I run the game in windowed mode and shrink it so I can fit both the timer and game comfortably on screen, or if you're using LiveSplit you can make the splits horizontal and cover the task bar with it to still have the game somewhat fullscreen
