Yeah the grinding and exploring of routes is what happens during the routing process of a game as people search for the most optimal path through it. So to say that a speedrun is disappointing because it skips those things is weird because skipping those things as much as possible is part of speedrunning. If you enjoy those things then the research and science part of speedrunning seems more up your alley.

That being said, to say that a Save Corruption run of pokemon is less interesting that a glitchless run because the SC run is a ton of walking OOB would make more sense (since disliking OOB walking to the end of the game vs getting all 8 badges is a common dislike of short runs like that).

@DoctorDerps, this is not the place to request games. That place is at https://www.speedrun.com/requestgame

This thread is for a different purpose related to inactive moderators on already existing games.

If you can’t contact them anyway and they aren’t responding to posts in the games forums then that’s when you can request it since a mod that has no way to be contacted isn’t fit to be a sole mod.

Yes.

Unless the mod(s) are inactive on both the site and their social media links. In that case, you can use the Moderation Request Thread here in the The Site forum (sorry for no direct link, it’s annoying on mobile).

This is a question in the COD series forum or the forums for each individual game, not the site wide Introduction forum lol. If you want to add categories you need to ask the mods (and having a run ready would be good too).

Yeah, HDMI modding older consoles will pretty much always result in varying amounts of input lag.

If you want the best quality from your SNES, it can natively output RGB without any modifications. That’ll get you great quality assuming you have a decent RGB capture card and a decent RGB cable/splitter. Worth considering down the road (decent equipment is pricey) if top quality matters to you.

I don’t see why you couldn’t use it, but you can ask this in the game’s forum or to the mods directly for a definitive answer.

For what it’s worth, if the NES classic is any indication, the SNES classic versions of games will run slower than their original counterparts so I’d stick to the original hardware if I were you.

There aren’t any really formal rules for this site because the driving force behind the site is the individual games. Each game has their own rules for how to submit runs to their LBs. Those types of rules are what you need to follow when submitting runs.

Otherwise, for site wide rules, they have some regarding requesting new games or requesting mod on games with inactive mods and those rules can be found on the corresponding pages/thread OPs.

As with most sites with forums, the rules are like LOLMAN said - don’t be rude, disrespectful, advertise something illegal, etc. In other words, the most important rule for almost everything site wide is use common sense.

iirc TMR did something like “Win the World Series” or “Win the Super Bowl” since those involved competing a whole season.

You can’t accurately predict a limit because you never will know what will be discovered, that was the crux of the point made in this thread.

Even predicting the limit of a game with current known strats is impossible, that’s why people dislike sum of best as a comparison for doing runs - you can never play perfectly (unless the game is maybe minutes long) because things like stress, pressure, etc all impact the ability to perform.

Measuring the limit or perfect time for any game, any category is just a silly exercise. It always will be.

Yeah GDQ is always America.

AGDQ is in Virginia and SGDQ is in Minnesota. For what it’s worth, I think ESA is always in Sweden (but idk for sure). I’m not sure if NASA has a set location or if it roams since it’s a new marathon.

If you’re looking to participate in a marathon but can’t afford the travel costs, there are online marathons that happen often (as evident by the large marathon forum section on this site) which will allow you to participate by streaming from your home like normal. It’ll just be broadcasted on the channel being used for the marathon instead of your own.

If you don’t have a capture card, getting the timer on screen adds an extra step. You need to take the video file off of your camera, phone, whatever you record with and put it on your computer.

Once it’s on your computer you can use Broadcasting software like OBS or XSplit to build a layout as if you were going to stream. This will allow you to add the timer like normal, but instead of adding video feed from a capture card you’ll add the video file of your run. Then you can playback the video and time it. You can either stream it or local record it for uploading to YT.

Unless having a timer on your PB video really matters to you, the hassle isn’t worth it. For longer runs it can be annoying to do this for every run so you’re better off just submitting the video as it is. As long as you have the timer running during the run you’ll have the time for the submission.

The site has recently decided to limit the amount of random flash/webgames they accept mainly because there are thousands of games that are seconds or minutes long are mostly just crap games people use for free WRs.

That being said, there are definitely legitimate games that aren’t the same old flash/webgame fodder. You can submit the game at

https://www.speedrun.com/requestgame

Make sure to read the rules for submissions, but if the game has actual substance behind it (which it seems to if WR is just under 2 hours) then I’d say you’re in better shape than other browser games.

  1. You’ll have to ask the mods of the game (or check to see if it’s listed as an acceptable platform on the LBs).

  2. Yes, you can retime your runs after they’re completed in order to get a final/accurate time or use a timer on your phone while doing the run.

  3. No, you can’t run a timer on the PS4 when direct streaming from it. The only way to add a timer to a direct from PS4 stream is to playback the video of the run in a program like OBS and add the timer alongside it. Which you need a laptop/PC for.

Welcome and good luck!

In the past, that issue has usually had to be resolved by Pac (or at least kirkq would always say he had to reach out to Pac when he did name changes manually). I’d suggest getting in touch with him and letting him know you’re seeing the issue.

You have to write the time down you stopped at, then when you open up livesplit again, you go into the settings and set the “start time” to whatever it was when you stopped. This will start the timer at that time so you can continue.

Closing the application gives you an option to save your splits, but the time you paused it at won’t be saved, you have to do that part manually.

The 5.51 was never properly verified with any proof (picture or video) and a few months ago Omnigamer and others reversed engineered the code to determine that the fastest possible time allowed by the game was 5.57.

This led to a surge of people trying to get the fastest possible time and it became popular for a while as people sought after it (plus some drama started over it on TwinGalaxies when the time was officially disputed so that brought it to more light as well).

GBI is mostly accurate, and a lot of communities accept it. You can always double check with the mods of the game, but it’s common to allow considering how hard/expensive it can be to come by the GBP startup disc
