In Kingdom Hearts 1 (all versions) we use the Dumbo summon to speed up movement throughout the Hollow Bastion level. Dumbo is a summon that is meant to just give you invincibility while you fly around on his back shooting water to damage enemies. He can rise and descend a bit to hit various flying enemies as well. Overall, it's a useless summon since it's very weak in most cases.

However, in Hollow Bastion, we abuse him to do some interesting movement tech that allows us to bypass parts of the world. It doesn't actually skip anything other than reducing the amount of movement and fighting we have to do and preventing us from having to enter more rooms in the world. When you dismiss Dumbo, Sora does a front flip kinda "jump" off of Dumbo as he disappears. This gives you just enough height to grab on to ledges you should normally never be able to reach. By doing this, we can bypass a number of extra rooms and a forced fight that we would otherwise have to do. We do it three times in the run and when you factor in the time to get Dumbo, it saves a minute overall.

Not a glitch by any means, but is quite the little exploit for a normally useless summon.

Flash carts like that are almost always allowed (I have yet to find a community that doesn't allow them). Since it's being played on actual hardware it is not considered emulation either. If you want to be doubly sure of yourself, ask the game mods and have them confirm it's allowed, but given my experience you are fine to use that. Hell I even use one myself sometimes.

As a note, a personal preference, the SD2SNES is much better than the Super Everdrive. More expensive, but much better. If budget is a concern, get the Super Everdrive 2 at least.

EDIT: apparently there are some more modern flashcarts for DS games that are banned for speeding up loads. But for Retro stuff (NES, SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, etc.) they should be fine

I have no clue what game you're talking about, but for whatever game it is, you're gonna want to ask in the game's forums instead of these site wide ones.

Other runners of the game will be able to help you more and give you better/more accurate answers to any questions you might have.

That input display is (most likely) coming from a program called NintendoSpy.

The way an input display works is that the controller input gets run through something like an Arduino and that allows it to be split so that it connects to your console like normal and also connect to your PC through USB. Once it's connected through USB, it can be read with NintendoSpy and you can have skins applied to it to view it in a controller like the one in the video.

Unless you have experience with electronics and things like soldering, this isn't something you can do on your own and you'll have to find someone who can build an input display for you. Once you have that, NintendoSpy is trivial.

There are a couple parts to SpeedRunsLive (SRL). The first is the front page and the second is the racing system. The front page is fairly straight forward, if you have I think like an hour of race time, you get your stream put on the front page when you connect it to your SRL account.

As for the racing system, it's all done via IRC and a program called RaceBot. It's fairly straightforward, especially if you have the slightest understanding of IRC, and there are guides on the website itself on how to use RaceBot. But once you register a nickname on the SRL IRC server, you can join and start races as you please on the site.

That's really all there is to it, nothing too overly complicated, although the IRC can trip people up at first.

Well since the Switch outputs via HDMI, a gv-usb2 really won't be of any use here unless you plan on downscaling the HDMI to composite/s-video (not recommended).

Unless the LB has multiple banned runners, his runs were never removed nor were the like 4-5 forum threads he started, they are still there. He's just banned for w/e crap he caused I guess.

Also, looks like http://www.speedrun.com/ace_combat/forum gets a daily surge in their forum since there is at least a dozen more in there. I wonder why that game in particular gets dozens of these bots a day

I like Hobz's idea, but to me it seems a bit different from Rebel's idea.

Rebel's idea seems more like a challenge to see how optimal you can get while still being a little creative, whereas Hobz's seems like a challenge to be as creative as you can in a short amount of time.

That being said, we could alternate it so that one week we do Rebel's challenge, one week we do Hobz's, etc. Doing both would be pretty fun and would it would be neat to see what people come up with
