Im sceptical there would be many people willing to do a run that's several hours long since there have only been 2 people who have done an 'additional levelling' run in the last several years.

I doubt someone would do a 8 hour run in segments if they're not even willing to do a sub-3 hour run in one sitting.

ff14 does indeed have the option to do multi-segmented runs but that's in a category that is 13+ hours long. most levelling categories would not be anywhere near that long.

I think it would be possible to make multi-segmented runs work however there doesn't seem to be enough interest in it that it would warrant further complicating the rules right now.

I understand that the additional levelling runs can indeed be very long however the main problem i see with your suggestion is that it would make it very hard to verify the authenticity of the run since there is no way to ensure no actions happened off-screen that could affect the run.

As a reminder there is a rule that allows runners to take breaks during runs that are longer than 3 hours.

I know this isnt perfect but i think its the most feasible way to still ensure a valid run.

For more info about the break rules you can read the 'break rule for long runs' forum post.

Yes, that is allowed.

It might be from the login calendar.

if it is then you're not allowed to use it since not every new character gets it.

Where exactly do you get the exp boosts from?

Since i was added as a moderator i have intended to make various changes to update the leaderboard including the 100% category but i havent gotten around to it yet because i've been busy irl. i will start working on it soon though.

I have created a Discord server for the community to use.

Its pretty empty atm since there's very few people speedrunning this game but it should make communication easier.

Here's the link: https://discord.gg/Nt5bfK8Dmp

I have also added the link to the resources tab on this site.

Hey, welcome to the swtor speedrunning community! i'll happily answer any questions you have.

i already addressed some of your questions on our Discord server but i will repeat everything here in case someone else is wondering the same things.

  • about combat styles:

The introduction of combat styles in 7.0 has indeed reduced the amount of gameplay diversity in most categories because stealth is crucial in most runs.

I understand that this is not always as fun but i think runners should be able to use stealth to optimise a run as much as they can.

It would be possible to add subcategories for stealth and non-stealth combat styles however the Origin Story leaderboard (which is most affected by the introduction of combat styles) already has 4 different subcategories so adding any more to it would make the leaderboard even more complicated and split up than it already is.

--

  • about No LG runs:

If you have a maxed out legacy you can indeed not run No LG on that legacy.

Since legacy is server-specific you can go onto a server where you dont have any legacy unlocks and do No LG runs there.

As long as you dont collect any datacrons or buy any legacy-wide upgrades on that server you can run No LG as much as you like.

--

  • about weeklies/heroics:

I have looked into adding categories like this in the past however the biggest problems i see with it is that it would be hard to set up rules because unlike most other categories this one would not involve making a new character and doesnt take place in a personal instance which means there could be a lot of factors that influence the run. the fact that weekly and heroic misions can only be done once per charcter per day would also make it hard to pratice these runs.

The main reason however as to why i would not add it as a category right now is because SWTOR already has a lot of categories with very limited activity and so im not eager to add any more unless there is an influx of new players interested in running them.

I hope this gave you some of the info you were looking for.

Patch 7.2.1 has added credit costs to Quick Travel, Priority Transport and Stronghold travel. Since the credits required are quite high even on starting planets this means that all levelling runs will be affected pretty hard and i suspect most current wr's are unbeatable. Because of this i have added the subcategories 'post-7.2.1' and pre-7.2.1' to the 'level 1-10', 'Additional Levelling' and 'Origin Story' categories.

If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to let me know in the replies or join us in the #swtor channel on the discord.

btw you are allowed to accept conquest missions.

sorry for the long wait but i have finally gotten around to fully updating the leaderboard based on all the 7.0 changes.

full list of changes:

  • removed lvl 1-75 category and added lvl1-80 category to additional levelling.
  • renamed Class Missions to Origin Story and added a note in the rules to clarify the category applies to Origin Story and not combat styles.
  • archived all prologue Inquisitor, Agent , Consular and Smuggler runs.
  • added 7.0 & 6.0 subcategories for Story & Veteran Operations.
  • added 7.0 & 6.0 variables for Eternal Championship.
  • added 7.0, 6.0 & pre-6.0 subcategories to all flashpoint & uprising categories.
  • moved all archived IL runs into the new subcategories and removed the archived IL category.
  • removed the conquest rule from Additional Levelling.
  • added a new rule to additional levelling & origin story that allows runners to take brief breaks during long runs.

I have also updated the splits in the resources tab to include the new flashpoints.

If you have any questions or if i forgot to update something feel free to let me know in the replies or join us in the #swtor channel on the discord.

I have added this rule to the Additional Levelling and Origin Story categories.

Feel free to still give your thoughts and/or feedback.

Conquest Rules have been removed from all remaining categories since conquest objectives no longer grant experience or credits since 7.0.

BelgiumTike3 years ago

since some people on discord showed interest in running some of the longer categories like lvl 1-80 i thought it might be a good idea to add a system that allows runners to take short breaks during long runs. this is the system i came up with with:

  • for runs longer than 3 hours runners are allowed to stop the timer for up to 15 minutes to take a break.
  • you are not allowed to take any action that affects your run while the timer is paused.
  • you are not allowed to take more than 1 break for every 2 hours in the run. (ex. if the run is 6 hours you are allowed to take max. 3 breaks.)
  • you are allowed to take the breaks at any time you want, there does not have to be 2 hours in between the breaks.
  • if you do not know how long the run will be i recommend taking the breaks after the hour thresholds have been reached.
  • runs that are close to the 2 hour marks will be rounded up or down by max 15 minutes in relation to the amount of breaks. (ex. 5h45m-6h15m runs will count as 6 hour runs.)
  • breaks that are more than a few seconds longer than 15 minutes will result in the run being rejected.

please let me know your thoughts and/or feedback.

yes, thats fine

i have made a graphic for each category so its easier to see which guild perks are banned:

Flashpoints: imgur.com/a/qqBrCfW GP Restricted Operations: imgur.com/a/QRdVYVE Uprisings & Eternal Championship: imgur.com/a/2dtluxA

the links have also been added to the top of the lists above.

another update to the conquest ruling:

  • the conquest ruling has been removed completely from the Class Missions category.

the conquest ruling in the Additional Levelling category remains unchanged for now however if the category gets some more runs in the future it might be reviewed again then.

good point, i didn't think of that.

we could add a category with 1 or 2 planets to start with and see if there is any interest in them. we would need to think some more about how the rules would look exactly like: -what would the starting point of the run be? -are there any mechanics that shouldn't be allowed? (quick travel, Razor's Kickstart tactical, etc)

if you want to try a run already as proof of concept that would also help a lot.

BelgiumTike4 years ago

datacrons unlock server-wide and there is no way to reset them which means you would only get 5 tries per account at doing a run like this, and thats assuming you dont already have any so this seems like it wouldn't work as a speedrun at all.

BelgiumTike4 years ago

im not opposed to removing Uprisings since there seems to be little interest in them however the level leaderboard isn't always a good place for a new category. there is also no guarantee that a new category would be any more popular, many people have come up with ideas for new categories in the past that barely anyone ended up running. as for the idea of doing multiple flashpoints in a row, i like the idea but im not sure how we would handle the downtime between flashpoints and loading screens, they could make a big difference in time and removing them would have to be done manually and would be a lot of work. feel free to think out this idea further tho if you want and if you have any more substantial ideas or other suggestions they are always welcome.
