Exactly what Timmiluvs said. I practice on official hardware, but stream on Emu (too cheap to buy a capture card/lazy to transport my systems to my ol' ladies house where I stream from). The lag on emulator is very noticeable and takes a bit of calibration to perform precise tricks when moving from hardware.
Welcome to the forums buddy! The highscores section is still a work in progress to the best of my knowledge.
As for games to run if you're starting out, the easy answer is whatever you enjoy! I, however, would love to have you compete with us in Street Fighter II Gameboy ( www.speedrun.com/sf2gb ) and Kirby's Dream Land ( www.speedrun.com/kdl ). Welcome again, and good luck!
Logitech K120, only the champagne of keyboards for me.
I can't believe the name KingPin wasn't already taken, good pick up. Good luck on your runs and welcome!
- When people come into the room when I'm streaming and want to have a convo mid run.
- Kracko RNG making me cry evrytyme.
Also LUL @Angelaatje I've never heard anyone say training, but that's priceless.
I had the exact same problem with OBS in the past, and the exact same fix. Sorry I didn't show up sooner.
Y'all are on top of things today, I've got nothing to add. Welcome DragonC007!
Welcome and good luck on your scary runs. 4AM?! I'm waking up for work then, not talking about games! You're a beast my friend.
(chryoyo taking shots! You knew I'd find this thread to pitch sf2gb? ?)
Welcome! You want to run Game Boy games you say? And fighting games happen to be your favorite, and specifically Street Fighter? Well have I got good news for you! Join us in the Street Fighter II Gameboy crew. https://www.speedrun.com/sf2gb
Timing software takes a little getting used to, but I believe it's worth it. Good luck on your runs!
I use a very standard Acer 21" (I believe) monitor I picked up from BestBuy. Works just fine for me streaming SNES/NES/Game Boy games. Admittedly, I use emulator most of the time, so that might also influence how well the screen performs.
Good luck on your runs and I look forward to seeing some of your work.
OBS all day buddy, phenomenal software and easy to learn. Give one or two Youtube videos a watch and you'll be good to go. It's free as well!
Windwaker! Rouge Squadron was good too, and there's always Smash Melee to dabble in.
Yo that's incredible, I can't do anything with my left hand let alone my toe. You have far more dexterity than I. I though about doing ssb runs, but I can't afford a capture card yet, so SNES/Gameboy emu runs for me XD
Welcome to the forums, and good luck.
Welcome to the forums Nathan. Panthers football fan here, though Boxing is my bread and butter sport. What games do you grind?
The only solution I can think of is to do a Screen Capture instead of Video Capture Device and zoom in on that segment of your screen :(. Sorry, this is easiest fix off the top of my head, though not optimal.
Alternatively, an idea for those who want IL's is to submit a request for a KDL category extension leaderboard ( such as https://www.speedrun.com/sm64memes ). This will give a section to keep track of individual level records and any other crazy ideas you guys have to say "I have a WR" without putting undue pressure on the mods here to keep track of.
Hey TruShade, enjoy your break, everybody deserves one once in a while. (He'll be back XD)
I don't understand the argument here. In no way do splits with no other information (In game timer, video proof, etc.) provide any type of verification for completing a run. If a person knows how to use Livesplit in the first place, then they inherently know how to misuse it.
A skeptic like myself would in fact be more suspicious of a person saying "I just got WR/great time, and I've got this split picture as proof!", than I would somebody just saying "I got WR/great time but unfortunately wasn't recording:("
Water with lemon, coffee or tea for me. I've always just took a break to go eat XD
