This is pretty much exactly the kind of thing I was talking about. Not the way to deal with this. If they just list a time without a name and a video that still stresses you out? If they remove it they are still gonna talk about it, unavoidable. You can't remove yourself from the game's history and you shouldn't, just a poor way to handle this. On top of that it's just a dick move to the community. Leaderboard becomes inaccurate, strats/routing/execution of a top run become hidden. Lame.
Why? Because your runs are clearly extremely relevant and affect the categories they were in. If there is no legitimate reason beyond yet another bs speedrunning squabble I too would be annoyed that you want to remove them. I've had to deal with this horse shit multiple times now, people go all emo and delete everything then resubmit after a few months when their brain comes back, stop it. Just talk it out like normal people.
Please read the rules of our leaderboard before submitting runs to categories any more. Thank you.
If you can't trust someone to verify their own run how can you trust them to verify everybody else's? Additionally not every game is blessed with an active community and many mods.
If you're talking about favicons, those haven't worked in years.
Pac did mention trying to implement measures to prevent clashing colors. Something to force 'eye-sore' color combinations away from each other. Maybe this is as a result of that.
I don't know what you could possibly mean by "it gets fucked up with the frames", but a properly downloaded video is more accurate since youtube rounds the framerate.
This has come up before multiple times, but with the redesign I feel like it would be a good time to reconsider query string parameter routing for subcategories, considering how popular their usage has become.
If by your reasoning it is a 2 class system to choose not to download and re-time every single run with a small moderation staff, then I guess you are right, but also nobody complains about this. You can't use blanket reasoning for every single game, board or community, it obviously doesn't work that way. It would simply be false to display 23.000 for a run that is not timed with millisecond accuracy and in some cases it is not trivial to simply time every run like we do for the 'high class' ones.
@HowDenKing I don't know how anything I said meant that I "want to run a 2-class system where slower times are less worth".
My issue is that I do not want milliseconds to be displayed for runs that are not timed that accurately. Currently the policy on the board I manage is that the only runs where ms are shown are the top runs that we manually re-time and everything else stays only timed to the second. I just think that it presents well visually, while staying accurate.
I would only like 000ms to be displayed if manually set, leaving empty fields to be displayed without ms as they are currently.
You can do that just fine, as long as everything else adheres to the rules. No macros or input automation.
Another tool that can be used for both services is JDownloader. Then open with Avidemux or Yua to time.
How did you get started here? What/who lured you in? The concept of speedrunning always sounded cool to me and one day I found Romscout's SOTN speedrun and SDA, so I decided to try it out after finding some of his guides on youtube.
What's the most important thing in speedrunning? Whats the ultimate goal? I think this is highly personal. For me it is the never-ending goal to improve.
Do you play or just watch? Why do you like it so much? Depending on availability, mood, motivation I do lots of stuff at different proportions. I have on and off seasons where I will stream and run heavily, or where I take big breaks. I like watching experienced runners and friends. I follow the game on Twitch and try to find new runners, watching them and giving tips. I like practicing offline and developing setups and optimizing movement for rooms.
How has speedrunning and/or this community impacted your life? It has had a dramatic effect on my life, mostly because of all the people I've met and the friendships I've established. The majority of my friends now I got to meet through this hobby, while only doing it for around four and a half years.
Those autofills are usually sort of experimental so that is not surprising. They scan the dom tree of the page to figure out what could get filled. I imagine it can become extra buggy if a SPA loads a bit slowly while the crawl is happening.
