I have seen some games like Sonic Heroes that didn´t allow for speedruns for emulators and now they allowed it could you do it?

I would like to know if this is allowed. Because I used the VBA 1.8 beta and the fps were too bad tbh. And also I asked this because I don´t want to waste my time on speedrunning a banned emulator ^^.
