We could do a LB for each difficulty, but I don't think that there is enough players to get a real board with extreme times everywhere. So yeah we should focus on 2 difficulties atm (maybe only 1 could be even better, like RE4). The best choice if we keep 2 is Amateur and Veteran, but I personnally feel a bit sad that Normal could be put away.
Do you have an idea on how we could manage each difficulty?
Well the fastest is obviously Amateur, so basicly this should be just classified by difficulty.
BUT, I personnally think that there is more sense to make Normal the standard because Amateur is way too easy for a coop run. Normal runs add a safe/risky thing to the runs that makes them more interesting.
So there is some pros and cons for each difficulty.
I can do it during the loading screen, but that means that I must restart the race from the menu every time I fail, because of the intro cutscene. It's quite annoying but it's ok, tho it might be really hard later in the run ( starting from #7, because I might use Elise and do the superspeedglitch, still have to look closer at it.)
And by discrepancy, do you mean something that changes any value of the game (bounty points, heat, cash...), or just a simple difference on-screen? (like a frame that has dropped during a cutting) I just want to be sure.
The problem was that I cutted between the race and the pursuit. I won't do like this anymore.
I'll do these 2 "races" in one shot. I'll be just a little bit slower, but well, it's ok as long as I don't lose more than 20 secs. And for the menu, do I really need to show you when I load a save? It's up to you.
For my editing, the best way to cut, for me, is as I said, to cut after each little intro cutscene of a race. When do you suggest me to do it? It seems quite ugly if I cut it anywhere else tho...
Give me your suggestions and I'll try to be as close as possible to it.
And I won't do only 15 segments, it would be too slow.
Now that the problems should be cleared, I'm thinking about re-doing the #15 segment, maybe next week. Will you both Ewil and JessicaSix have some time to watch it? I'd like you both to watch it, and give your feedback here, so that I know if everything is correct or not. So if you have time, I'll try to do it quickly, and if you don't then I'll take my time.
I'll keep the things like how I did before (no autosaves, cutting segments after the short cutscene before each race...) but this time I won't cut after the race that directly leads to a pursuit, and I also won't cut between each race during a blacklist 1v1.
But it's quite strange you've got so much dc and lags tho....
Me and Mitsuko don't have that much problems, and he has a really bad connection. In the two last weeks we didn't have any disconnect during a run. I don't know what's the problem.
I don't think it's possible, ye.
Maybe you can try to mod a save, so that you'll have only the default gun and a spray, & 0 cash. But I suppose that it won't be considered as legit for a NG run.
So I think that the only option for you should be that you play Chris and Snow plays Sheva.
Nope.A career can only be saved on one single slot. I dunno if it's possible but maybe I can alternate saves between HDD and USB key, but that would anyway be too long and annoying to do.
That's what I did when I needed to cut between my last race and the pursuit. I just had to press one button to come back to the X360 dashboard, and then I can restart the game. It was wrong because I didn't use autosave.
But I'm quite afraid to use autosave, because that means that if I fail only once (like if I finish a race and I don't have a good time, for example) I'm quite screwed.
I'll retry it later, only if there is no problems at all, and I want to be sure everything works well.
Coop only.I never actually tried to do the game solo.
So all I have to do is re-drive my run without cutting it between Races that ends to a pursuit immediately after (that should be the only problem that has to be resolved from the actual dead run), if I'm correct.
If for any reason you think there is another problem on previous segments, please notice me so that the 3rd attempt will be the good one :)
This is a start to make me understand ^^.
I'll give you a potential situation of what I imagine could be possible, tell me if it's ok or not (so I can see if I understand or if I'm just dumb) :
- I drive Race 1
- After it's ended, it autosaves, and then I select race 2 via the menu.
- I quit the game
- Next time I play, I have to select again Race 2. So can I cut my Race 1 recording right after the little skippable race 2 intro, or do I need to cut it at another moment before?
By the way, Ewil, can you explain me what you told about the autosaves?
Because right now, I don't know anymore how I should cut my videos and maybe this could be useful for the day I decide to begin a new Seg.
I will definitely do it SS. I prefer very long one-shot sessions than little sessions which I mix up to get a Seg run. Moreover, my run is on X360, so just by playing it on PC should make you go many minutes faster than me, by faster loading times, and most obstacles disappearance.
The sure point at the moment is that I'm frustrated and I won't retry it in the next days. If other people express their will right here to do this game only Seg, then I might get really motivated to beat it.
As I said, the main thing that motivates me in Speedruns in general is just the fact to learn from other players and then try to do better than them. So yeah it's normal I'm not fully motivated at the moment.
Maybe I disappoint you but I've always prefered doing races than doing time trials. I think that explains why I'm more motivated to do SS than Seg.
So kind of you. (really, I appreciate :) ) I repeat that this segmented was just a way to learn the game, to add more details in my routing. There are other ways to do it, and it can be even better because everyone could help.
If I finish a Seg run of MW someday, I will be able to say 'I'm the fastest Seg player on MW!' Yeah, and so what? Only JessicaSix made one unfortunately. If I finish my routing, and do SS runs later, then maybe more people will give a go at this game. And if only at this moment, I'm first, then I will definitely be happy to be first, cause the will be adversity, there will be pressure ! This is what I mean by fun. I'm a competitor, I play other racing games at high level, and the only thing that makes me continue is racing versus other people and beat them. If I lose, then I'll try my possible to beat them. Don't you think it will be more interesting to chellenge us all on SS rather than on a Seg run that probably no one else apart JessicaSix (and me?) will do?
This game has now a very, very small community, and the way to make it live will be to challenge us one to each other during SS runs. You should agree with that, or in this case I didn't understand something here.
My goal isn't to prove that I'm the fastest, because I'm not. There's plenty of players that trained the game and have already pushed this game to the limits. It was just a way for me to have fun playing this game, waiting that I could stream my SS runs ( which would probably happen next year).
This 2nd reset is enough for me at the moment, I just don't want to play this game for the moment. Even a few days ago I felt like I wanted to stop.
Even if I retry it one day, I won't use autosaves, because I said I wanted to use RTA technicks, and I'll of course won't use autosave during SS.
And I personnally think that Segmented runs, nowadays, are past. Now mostly SS is the way to go, and I have way more fun playing SS than Seg. I think I might give a go to Prostreet now, make my own routing. Then I'll SS it. And then, I'll see what I'll do for NFS games. (because I run other games too so I can't do too many games at once.)
But don't worry that doesn't mean that I'll stop preparing my SS runs for MW. I've still got my routing to finish so players who want it could use it, and besides that I've got some tricks to test (I began a few days ago to test Elise, and I think it might be possible to gain time with the super speed glitch). I still like this game even if I don't want to play it anymore at the moment, so I'l come back to it, but maybe in another way.
I'll keep you updated on what I discover, and you can still check my routing doc from time to time to see what's new. I hope that you understand that it's just a "pause" from this game, and that I'll play it later for sure, I just don't know in which circumstances.
So, here we are. Looking to the situation, please tell me everything you think is bad or failed, or an error... so I can fix it later.
Now I don't know hot to cut my videos so it will not be a problem. Previously I did it right after the very short skippable cutscene before each race. Is it ok? Or no? And of not, when should I do it, with taking into accound that I'll still cut every race for the best times.
"When I cut all my mistakes out of the video, then I have a 7 hour run" That's exactly why I told you that I won't continue this run. We just don't have the same goal woth our segmented runs, at all. You maybe just didn't want to do a single segment, I don't know. For my part, I do this because I want to know how fast we can go in this game by using RTA-wise technicks. I want to avoid mistakes as much as possible.
We just don't have the same vison of things about this game. The only difference is that you're a mod, and I'm not. So you rule, I don't.
What I do is legit, but I can't prove it. You say something is missing, but you can't prove it either. But you decide. The first pursuit (the "removed" one) has just never been played as I know that it isn't the attempt I will keep. I just quit the game directly after the race, and then I do what I already explained enough times.
I already overcame my frustration once, and retried my run from the start, I won't do it another time. As I said before, I'll just stick with single segment runs (by the way, quite original to play a race+ a pursuit single segment in a segmented run, that's why I cut it.)
We should stop this discussion at the point it is right now. I like this game, and I like many other NFS games, so I'll continue to run them, but single segment. Maybe I'm just not the type of person to do segmented.
