We strongly encourage using the regular ROM instead. Usually we accept an initial submission with it and ask the runner to switch.
The only reason not to make the split at "no turbo tunnel glitch" is to stubbornly hang on to a "legacy any% route" and it will only come back to bite you as you have to make the explanation of what is a "credits warp" and what is an "old tubo tunnel glitch" ever more specific. Look at the mess that is the ruleset for 11 Exit SMW, nobody who isn't a programmer can even understand what it's saying anymore, and only because people didn't want to let go off their cloud glitch PBs that by now are all obsolete anyway. Either way, I'm not running Battletoads, so my opinion shouldn't have much weight, I just hope you think about it.
You can't accurately determine hundredths, when the videos are 30fps or even less.
The real leaderboards are at http://minesweeper.info/. They use clones for timing.
the ingame timer works on a per-room basis 316 means that you did the first room fast accel and had a good third room the other 3 rooms can still be bad
I think using the GoG configs as a standard would be fair. I can upload them if wanted.
yeah, japanese and us cartridges have the same rom, the FDS version is a later release
I think it would make more sense to call it sth like "(non-FDS)" instead of "(US)" and of course allow PAL. Regarding PAL categories in general, I'm always wary of anything that doubles the number of categories like that.
Solidfrog was attempting blindfolded runs, but he seems to have stopped streaming completely.
If you run on console, you don't need to bother with this at all. Simply record an input file and attach it to the submission.
This is for runs on console that use the Bowser spreadsheet to determine the precide framecount of the run.
Thanks for the information. The Genesis version does have an ending - just leave through the doors at the start. Though it would need different timing rules and Best Ending doesn't seem to apply. Game Gear indeeed does not appear to have an ending.
Why didn't anyone else think of this? I'm gonna press the ACE button I've been ignoring all this time.
Sorry, but you can't ask this here. The owner of the site doesn't like it. Ask somewhere else.
The real Minesweeper leaderboards are at http://minesweeper.info/ and the real Expert WR is twice as fast.
Oh, don't get me wrong the other categories are insane! I'm just saying there is a speedrun where all you have to do is click once! XD
And there's even a trick to that: https://www.speedrun.com/Minesweeper/guide/k7hzb
if single-bit errors on reading a level can even BE possible on original hardware.
Sure they can be. Cosmic radiation can flip a bit for example. The famous Super Mario 64 "upwarp" was most likely caused by one. It is also possible that this was simply done with a Game Genie code.
The source for Rodrigo's run (and most of the early WR progression) was http://www.twingalaxies.com/content.php/2577-Scott-Kessler-Attains which seems to be dead and not archived either. You can't see previous best times on TG either. If Rodrigo says he never submitted a time like that, I don't know why it said so in the TG article, but I guess his time should be removed.
I had the same issue and fixed it by changing the renderer.
