I installed UT99 + patch 451b to check out the issue myself.
the ~3 second wait in between ladder maps still exists, unlike stated by the runner, and is absent in the video.
Series mods require to be informed of a way to disable this wait, in order to prompt reconsideration of reviewing the run.

cyborg , as for the goty thing, maybe add a tag that can be added to runs, but keep them on the same board for now?
"The remainder of the points regarded what are intrinsic problems with mass housing - it being cold "
I've been in mass housing for all 4 events I've attended, and this was more than just an intrinsic problem. It wasn't just cold, it was freezing. The previous two mass housings were not nearly as cold.
Since Oasiz didn't use the asocial Finnish card this year (confusingly), I'm going to play it instead (despite not being Finnish).
Shoutouts to everyone I met at ESA, be it for the first time or for the second, third or even fourth. You're the only reason it was worth going! You made this event fun.
SlayerOfBabies: I reenabled run verification since video proof is a requirement now and I want to keep an eye on this game's speedrunning activity and maybe find a suitable mod to do the verification if you don't want to.
Shoutouts to -Coolkid for getting me candy from Granna. -Maral for helping me get a proper Swedish meal for once. -Blondie for getting me crisps from the republic. -Bubblebobbler for getting me free tequila. -MizterConfuzing for hosting a proper party in his room, better than any Swedish bar could do. -Tezur0 for being the only person with an interesting run in the schedule. -Other people for being present
Shit that was shit: -Mass housing. Why exactly was the AC running? It overdid its job, it was way too noisy and way too cold. Combine the frostnights with stuffing a bunch of nerds in one building and of course I get myself and others sick. Also negative shoutouts to the dickheads who decide to put their bed in Track 5 instead of the sensible tracks 1 and 8 by the wall and out of the walkway. -Vaxjo. Boring town. -Alcohol. What the fuck are these prices. -No AMVX -How about next time you decide to clean the venue, maybe save the one room that's designed to keep people from starving to be cleaned last? Your random decision to clean the fridge/microwave room cost me a shitload on food that spoiled before I needed it, not to mention I had to take my already sick self into the cold outdoors for twenty minutes to buy shitty max food instead of catching up on sleep I needed and eating a tastier and more nutritious microwave meal instead. (Although microwave meals aren't really good food either, they're still 3 times better than whatever max serves.) -The stream I guess. I didn't really care for it this year but it was obvious that things didn't go well, as I'm sure you're aware. So I'm putting this here just for the sake of completeness. -What's the point in getting everyone a lanyard if we have to wear demonspawn wristbands anyway? What a waste.
Good stuff: -Most annoying people stayed at home. So that's good. -A lot of cool people were there this time. More than last year. -If there's anything I haven't mentioned, it means it wasn't bad so take that as positive feedback!
Someone needs to come up with a solid definition of 'wrong warp' in this game, or better yet, a solid definition and name. My eyes point to Nick.
Once that is settled, we can start thinking of an 'any% no WW' category, which would be better than an 'any% old route' category because that would be dumb for various reasons: Example:'any% prebastant route' literally does not allow people to go behind the hospital on mall shootout because people didn't do that back then, which would be super arbitrary.
@Gael: On top of that, Just get the one where you unlock KYFC marker but not instastart the mission. Just park your police car inside the asset purchase icon before buying it. Voila, any% no warps and it probably only is a minute slower :D
As long as the input is manual, I think anything is fine. Autosplitters/checklists don't have manual input, they have automatic input. For their intended uses, that's fine, since they merely replace video editor timing/pen and paper tracking respectively. (Although the checklist is a dodgy case because forgetful people exist). Regardless, that's not the issue at hand.
A timer is fine as long as it's started manually. This can be a wsplit instance, phone, hourglass, rube goldberg contraption, whatever. As long as it's started manually and not by the game.
The point about 'we should allow it because we can't prove that everyone is not using it' is dumb, because we also can't prove exactly that someone didn't modify some tiny variables in the game to give them a slight upperhand in RNG. There's this thing called trust. There's also this thing called calling someone out if you suspect them (just be sure to do it properly)
External timers should be fine imo. Just like how using a pen and paper is fine, or how using a chair to sit on during runs is fine, or how using a screwdriver (a literal tool) to assemble your pc upon which you speedrun is fine.
Seperate categories are not needed to view run progression, and only make it worse since it separates all the information. http://gta.karlkask.com/ documents run progression very well.
I like Kyle's idea, but implementing it would go to the SRR staff, not to the GTA ldbs mods.
This discussion was had with the normal dupes as well. We made a "7 assets" category, which was basically the old stuff but still inspired route improvements ("any% old route" wouldn't work because if someone finds taking a specific random alleyway would be faster on some random ass mission tomorrow it wouldn't be allowed and that's dumb)
7 assets was a flop however, and nobody ran it. And seeing as how nobody ran any% at all in like the half a year prior to this new skip, making a new category for that will be an even bigger flop.
We didn't praise the former any% route into high heaven 3 days ago, so why should we now?

So looking at the rules for Half-Life 2 and other Source games, I think the GTA speedrunning community is horribly old fashioned and we need to change that.
Back when the concept of WASD cheats was figured out, I think it was tuplanolla who ran a simulation of 100 million WASD key presses and the discovery was there's many different cheats (possibly in the triple digit numbers) that can be activated using only WASD.
Currently, WASD cheats are banned, but seeing as how Source / GoldSource legitimized the use of console commands in runs a couple of months ago, I think GTA should follow in their footsteps.
Now of course, we cant go and allow any and every cheat. They're still cheats. But with the accidental nature of WASD cheats, I think they should not only be allowed, but also utilized for maximum efficiency. For example: I think using DDDDDDDAAAAAADWD should be allowed when its raining, and AAAADADSAWADAW should be allowed for when you quickly need a vehicle (First Date comes to mind). These are just some examples, Im sure people can come up with others, as long as it only uses the WASD keys and nothing else. (Or if you're using ESDF, only those keys, or IJKL, or whichever keys you use for movement.)
I think the point is not the land it in a specific spot, it's to land it fast and get out fast before enemies are triggered into trying to get in it.
I have toggled on video requirement. I cant help beyond that. If any of these times are suspciously low, let me know and they can still be rejected.
If people do runs of it, I see no reason to not add it unless it's truly stupid. (like bowling%)
However, as has been proven in the past (COUGH 7 assets), people saying they will do runs and people doing runs is different. How about in the future we have people do runs first, THEN add the category to the leaderboards? Or give it a 2 month trial period and if people still don't run it, remove it forever (or until people do).
